Hello, people of the NoFap community! I'm Ielsgred (or Iels!), and I am a bit curious about the community, the aim of the individuals, and what restraint from PMO gives you. I am personally here because I wish to be able to restrain myself from masturbating. I have no desire to quit altogether, nor do I think that masturbating (with or without porn) is bad. I simply find some type of enjoyment (it could be a mix of power and simple happiness) from restraining myself from PMO. In a sense, I am wishing to balance out the two -- instead of being entirely reliant on my sexual pleasure from masturbation, I instead what to have a long term pleasure that comes from restraint.

I'm sorry if this doesn't make too much sense, but at any rate, I hope I can achieve this! I'm interested in the community as well. I'd like to learn as much about why people wish to stop as I can, and what they believe stopping will help them with. I won't judge (as we all have our own reasons, but we're all looking for the same goal), but I'm simply curious. If you could perhaps respond to this with a summary of why you stopped, that would be wonderful! If not, that's fine too. ^_^

    Thanks for reading~

I suggest that if you have the need to join an online support group because you can't currently restrain yourself from PMO, or in other words because you say your PMO controls you, than maybe it isn't worth keeping up at all. PMO is an addictive behavior and based on your post it seems clear that you are addicted to it.

Addicts of alcohol, drugs, and other addictive substances often choose to entirely forsake contact with the substance they are addicted to for the very reason that they know how frightfully easy it is to relapse into abuse and over-consumption. It just isn't worth it to always live on the edge, eventually that edge will crumble and take you with it.

Trust me mate, there is no such thing as balance, with something as volatile as PMO.
