Your morning routine

    Hello,

I was just thinking about my morning routine - which currently doesn't allow for any time for mindful meditation, goal setting or the like - and that got me thinking about what others do on here.

I want to make my morning routine more productive.

What's your morning routine like and do you think you need to change it?

I did start taking cold showers as a way to tax my immune system a year ago. Didn't get sick the entire winter and spring although I'm usually the first victim of the annual flu... It also gets you going and excited for the day.

Used to also do pushups when I had no time for the gym. 3 maximum sets with a few minutes of rest in between, dedicated to making the bed, brushing my teeth, or preparing food... Now that was a punishment.

That's awesome. With the cold showers, how did you do them? Get straight in? How long were you in them for?

I'd count to 5 and then spray myself all over. Completely eliminating the use of hot water helped too, even if I had to shave (which is easily 10-15 minutes under a cold shower) or thoroughly wash myself.

You seems quite great by that. Why say punishment?

I'd be curious about any morning routines people have that they rely on. I live alone so I wake up more often than not with morning wood. Then the anxiety and stress of trying to please the world comes out in a job with incompatible functions where I try to please the world and feel I have to rub one out to take the edge off. Anyone experiencing anything similar?

My morning consists of waking up, drinking milk*. Mediating/stretching** then shower. Eat breakfast, then start the day.

*Milk should be digested without other food in the stomach.
** I sit cross legged on my bed in the dark and practice flattening my torso against the bed. Your ankles will dig into your backside for about 30 seconds then that pain will disappear. Once I can flatten my torso I cross my arms behind my back, with my head face down and meditate. Usually after I get up from this I feel a tremendous sense of peace.

Nice ...ty . I may try this in the morning one day. I find part of my problem is I may not give myself enough time due to lack of organization. I work for a construction company so I wake up at 6 and leave at 655 ..it seems like I'm always chasing the day if that makes any sense.

Have you tried going to bed a bit earlier?
I usually try to get up at 6 as well, sometimes I can't if I got to bed too late. I guess I can, but I don't want to. This whole routine generally takes less than an hour. The hardest part is not falling asleep while your meditating. Combating this is simple a matter of stimulation to wake up your brain. Stimulation can be anything from watching a sunrise to checking your Twitter feed. The milk helps too. I'm not saying you have to use electronic stimulation though. Its different for everyone.

I usually go to bed around 10 so I can get the 8 hours .I find sometimes if I watch the news or sports highlites which distracts a little. I like your milk idea though and sometimes I listen to mediation tapes during the morning commute. I'm a little embarrassed that a couple of times I've masterbated not showered put my clothes on and went to work ..I haven't done that to much ..maybe once a month but always felt like a total pig afterwards.

I think majority of those on this website have done the same type of things.

In middle school I would masturbate 3 times a day and I never did laundry or showered. I would play videogames until it was time to go to school, sleep in class. Come home, masturbate. Then repeat.

Don't be ashamed of what you have done. Learn from your mistakes. Remember that it doesn't matter if you have showered or not, people can still smell the semen. I would have people tell me I smelled like semen after I had showered and washed all my laundry.

The best thing you could do is wake up at 5 o clock no matter what time you go to bed tonight. Even if your tired its only one day and you will fall asleep faster and easier tomorrow night. Sometimes we have to shock the body into responding to what we want. Sleep patterns are a tricky thing because we developed them at a young age.

    My Morning Routine :

    Wake Up
    Brush My Teeth
    Take A Cold Shower
    Meditate For 20 Minutes
    Eat Breakfast

Then the rest of my day follows like : Gym,Reading,Music,Running,Softball,Working,Etc...

And I feel as though I don't need to make any changes... Everything works perfectly for me. It's all about time management and knowing what you really want to do in the morning.

Ty ..for the info it's funny because there was a morning routine I really liked that I found almost by chance (that I've never really followed ) during my last year of university. It was hit the gym and work out between 800 and 830 and I would feel tremendous the rest of the day.
I also really like to read so maybe I'll try to add that more to the morning routine.

I've also found that sometimes when I wake up a little lonely stressed and horny I start thinking about the road trips I've taken and planning an upcoming one.this takes my mind of the ladies of the evening a little .

I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water activated gel cleanser. Then a honey almond body scrub. And on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Then apply an herb mint facial mask, which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

Nice ...that is a great routine and excellent tips about taking care of your skin properly. I had always heard this would a good strategy and focusing on something like that would help take my thoughts away from the boredom, stress and loneliness which is my gateway to materbating and even worse planning to call an escort.

    Time taken: 1 hour Warmup.

6:15 - Warmup wakeup - I snooze this first alarm, which lets me know I'm about to wakeup.
6:20 - Wakeup - Second alarm. No matter what, I execute a "5 second rule" and I get up no problem.
6:20-6:25 - Read - I have reread an uplifting book to get me started for the day. (Currently think and grow rich)
6:25-6:35 - Cold Shower - Cold water start hitting my toes, 5 second rule, chest, 5 second rule head.
6:40-6:55 - Hygiene/ book - dry off, change, lotion, gel, chapstick etc. Also read a book for 5 mins.
6:55-7:00 - Meditation - Set a timer, then focus on my breath/ oneness/ presence until timer goes off.
7:00-7:05 - News Digest - I read 3 articles from the Yahoo news digest app, set to feed to me at 7:00AM.
7:05-7:10 - Cerego - If time permits, I check cerego - it's a flashcard app that lets me study important info.
7:15 - Out of the house, on the way to the gym.

    Time Taken: 2 hour "conditioning"

    7:15-8:15 - Workout
    -
I work as intensely as I can at the gym, moving from one exercise to the next as soon as my rest timer is up. I follow a routine on my workout routine to get planned, measured results. My time is precious and I know I can't spend all my time at the gym, so I might as well make the most of my time there until the alarm goes off at 8:15, then I have to go.
On "rest days" I still go to the gym to do my warmup routine (I'm paying for membership anyway) as a physical reminder that I'm making progress towards my goals and in order to keep my gym habit solid.
8:20 - Eat - I have a meal already prepped. I just have to take it out and eat it. All the macros I need + 2 cups of milk.
8:40 - Hygiene - Change, shower, get to work.
