I have known some people who have some really stupid Facebook content. But in real life they are actually decent people. Yes I know that Facebook can be a reflection of their personalities but bad and annoying Facebook content does not necessarily mean that it's a terrible person.

Some people even judge if You don't have any. I am not gonna make a new account just to please someone. I don't judge people with bad content, but I don't like political or activist comments, they are often too preachy. For this reason I ditched mine, and also the negativity.

I judge people if they have social media accounts or not. Most who do follow trends and fads. Only some users are individuals.
Social media is very black and white to me.
I also find it full of the scum layer of information, useless and depressing more than half the time.
On top of that Facebook has the most invasive data harvesting policies, right up there with google. And worst of all they use it in cooperation with feds, CIA, NSA.
Mark zuckerberg himself disables his microphone and covers his webcam on his laptop. But he's totally cool with collecting everyone's data of course.
I don't participate in having social media accounts, the only thing close is NoFap, to which I use anonymously and have no intention of finding friends from.
I find friends by talking to them in real world, and only give my number out to arrange meet ups. I don't use it to actually talk to people unless its an emergency or beneficial to gaining knowledge.

Yes I'm weird. But I like it ;)

I had a Facebook account for about a month 7 years ago, semi fake name and totally fake bio and location details...then I was like,
"This is a heap of crap".
Perma-deleted my account and now live like a hermit ever since. It's great.

It can be useful when it come's to gathering information or keeping contact with certain individuals BUT I don't use social media at all . The best versions of people are in "real" life .

    Real Life > Fake Life

I quit using facebook, a while ago. It's completely pointless for me to keep using it if they'll just see me as a stranger and not talk to me like they used to. I can't even show my face anymore.

Who cares about people on the internet dude. You are better off, off Facebook trust me.
All that matters is whoever you got in the real world and keep them close.

  12. I deactivated my twitter and IG. But I'll be back on IG when I'm ready. Snapchat too.

I've never used facebook, I find it stupid and pointless, only gossips and idiotic stuff. Always judged people by that, but now I find it ironic that I wasted my time in even worse and more stupid stuff (porn and masturbation). That is a good advise you give, don't judge anybody or anybody's action before you know them. (It's very difficult though)

I noticed today for the first time that I spent quite a bit of time on my FB. I tend to do a lot of comments on stuff (I like to think I'm not one of the crazy ones, but who knows, in all likelihood I'm probably the craziest of the whole lot). I think part of it for me is that I live in a small town, and I live on a night shift schedule because my wife works nights as a nurse. When she isn't here, I tend to use it as my way to socialize. I know I should probably give it the boot, but then I would have NOBODY to talk to for 5 nights/wk.

Doing any form of intimate/sexual communication online is in my no-no square, partly because I used to do a lot of it. From my experience I tend to say avoid online dating, because it can quickly dive into PMO territory. That isn't to say that you cannot make it work, but it provides an easy avenue towards unhealthy relationships with women (or any gender).

As to why your former lady-friend acted that way, it can be for a lot of reasons. Plenty of times I had to provide a up-to-date picture to someone to prove I wasn't catfishing them. Others might simply be nervous about actually meeting someone they have only talked to online. Others might simply be catfishing you.

I always found the communication between me and whoever I was talking to would be completely different online than in person. It made the whole online scene feel artificial. While you still are trying to get to know someone, at the same time there is that sense of behind-the-screen anonymity. It creates a completely different dynamic in how you communicate than if they were in the room with you. That's why I say avoid the online dating, especially for people like us.

Yeah. No kidding. Facebook has gotten pretty dull.

  17. Super dull. But I ain't tryin' to be Instafamous neither. Instagram is way too narcissistic, the majority at least....

I keep my facebook for work purposes and to keep updated with social events.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I rarely see any upsetting stuff on my FB news feed. Apparently I don't have a lot of people on my list, maybe around 150 people which is somehow considered few people, and I suppose I resonate with the lot of them. Otherwise I wouldn't care to have them on my list anyway.

  20. That's the way to keep it! I wanted to keep mine for family really but after a rampage of borderline anarchic posts I felt a need to delete it but it's not a permanent choice.

Work and family will be the only reasons I ever sign up for it in the future.
