What video game are you playing now? v. 1

I can't return to a video game for the life of me. It really feels like something changed in my brain. I have absolutely zero interest and you'd have to pay me to play one.

 

Haha yeah, very quick boredom right?
I'm same.
I play about 30 min then I'm done lol.
Sometimes I even load a game then just turn it off haha.

 

That is awesome. I abused the crap out of them and paid the price but I don't regret it.

 

Indeed. I spend so much time playing so many games.
Here's some figures, nearly 30 days actual play time over 6 months playing call of duty 4 (when it first came out), same for all other cods after that. Same for battlefield 3 and 4 when they came out.
Then I played skyrim on PS3 for 120 something hours but my save corrupted so I quit that lol.
During my teen years if I were to estimate roughly how many hours into days I spent playing between 13-18 it would be.

13104hrs or 546 days. And that's a reserved figure because 1 of those years I was out of work and education for a while.

But I also don't regret it. It kept me at least from deep depression at one point.

I worry though for the future generations.
They are brought up on games from day 1. I was lucky I had a real childhood.

It's interesting that you guys mention this. I was addicted to video games straight through to my teens, and then quit for a few years. When I started playing games again, it was like I appreciated the artistic and musical aspect, but it's just so boring and actually a chore to play games. When I think about games, I have a better time. When I actually try to play one, I'm bored and can't immerse myself like I could in the past. I guess when we're young we can access this escapist mode when it comes to video game, but when away from them for a period of time, that mode disappears and real life takes over.

It was like a switch being flicked off for me. I just found myself uninterested in almost all of it compared to how I used to be with games, and craved to do more interesting things. Typically outdoor activity.

I still enjoy games when I have nothing else to do or think about. But only really a very well made story...everything else I find mundane.

 

I'm exactly the same. When I do play a game, it has to be a very well made story-based game, like you say, and the game has to feel like I can learn something from it and bring it back into real life and benefit. I think as one gets older, they learn to value their time and their own worth more, so when it comes to a game, it has to be something special and worth it - quite uncommon these days.

 

It's a great casual hobby. I'm an all or nothing type of person and really don't feel I can commit to any gaming ever again the way it's truly meant to be committed to, in a responsible commitment that is.

Witcher 3 is a magical adventure. Got me into the books. Books made me cry manly man tears. Got a little tired of the "I'm a lawful neutral character" monologues though.
