Is masturbation ultimately worth stopping?

So a big issue I suffer with is determining whether masturbation is 'normal'. I know millions of people do it, but is it possible or even worth stopping after 90 days? I'm only 17 and still a virgin, so it's not like I get a 'release' as such from sex every now and again, which is my issue.

See, in an ideal world I'd like to only get O from sex only, so after 90 days I'd like to say no to P and M forever. I know this is a conflicting topic, with many different views. I'm personally worried that stopping M completely will lose or lower my libido or make me sexually frustrated.

Well the problem isn't masturbation, the problem is porn. But you can masturbate excessively and cause problems to yourself.I'm 28 and I was a virgin until I was 20.The first time I got head from a before I lost my virginity girl,I didn't cum.The second time I sex,I wasn't able to get it up.As I look back on it now I realize that was a sign that was over stimulated by porn. But in my opinion man it's worth it.Just give it a shot and go 90 days. There's always benefits of it.

The shortest answer is 'only you can know' if masturbation is right or wrong for you.

    (However....)

Exactly what @Ms123 said. NoFap isn't against masturbation. (And depending on who you ask, NoFap isn't anti-porn). NoFap is an execise to help you recover from when you feel you've lost control, or you think Fapping with porn has created issues in your life.

Porn allows us a false access to sex. It's freely available and offers variety which can't be met in real life. If you let it, it will touch your insecurities, test your identity, and allow you to fapp mindlessly until your sore and bored with even sex. This is because it an entertainment product that shows only the most shallow sterotypes, and fantasies that can't ever happen in real life, along with a marketing message that certain things are 'good' when they would in fact hurt or be boring.

In all cases, the easiest approach is to put the porn away, and give yourself a chance to heal.

If after you've healed, you can masturbate again. But this time only use your mind, and pay attention to your body. Don't use porn to passively stroke off to what you see on screen. It's where the issues breed.

Again, if you feel masturbation is wrong, don't do it. It's not for us to tell you that it is right.

However, there are many that find a perfectly healthy balance with masturbation, after completing NoFap. It can teach you how to receive pleasure, and allow you to maintain some control over your sexual desires. In my opinion, it's perfectly natural, and even spiritual thing to do (I'm not religious). Just have to respect it, and be able to make your own decisions about when, where, how (and not be just driven by your desires alone).

Addiction first starts when we feel shame, guilt, and isolation. We don't think we can communicate with others, so we feel we are broken and dirty/shameful. You overcome that by talking with people like us, who won't judge. And realizing that anything you do with your body isn't 'wrong', 'bad', or 'dirty', as long as you aren't harming others or yourself. Make sure that what you are doing is always 'your choice', and not a compulsion you feel you can't control.

Unfortunately, once you identify that porn is a component in your problem with maintaining a respectful schedule, or maintain sane idea of what is normal, then we at NoFap don't believe there is any real safe level of consumption. Being a virgin, it really is a danger for you to be watching porn, unless you have a relationship with someone that can walk you through what is correct and 'what is false' in that content. (And who has that?) I would do it for my sons if they ever asked. (But you would need to be comfortable with this).
