I recently heard a podcast by some lifters and they received a question about porn. They stated that Porn was bad and actual relationships good. Now this is just a small example and the NoFAp community is also an example of porn receding but in the grand scheme of the world we seem kinda small. I think porn is being beaten and seen as something taboo and bad (slowly but surely). However I'm not sure if it's is because of people's morals (because porn is wrong. Really, really wrong) or because everyone has seen porn in this time period and the porn "trend" is over. It's seen as cool not to watch porn. I'm happy no matter what that the industry is being beaten back I just hope it's because of the first reason. What do you think?

  2. It cant be beaten. Unless its scientifically proven that it is wrong. Then people will stop it.

Lifters as in weightlifters. I agree, that podcast would have been way better had they been shoplifters. If I find it again I'll send you the link.

Don't preach nofap like hardcore christians do or else people would run away from nofap. Instead say something like porn is a problem for me and it may or maynot be problem for others.

fapping is terrible for lifting, and for sports in general. it saps your testosterone so you can't lift as much. lombardi wouldn't let his players near women after wednesdays during the season for a reason.

  11. I just like to call them pick up artists. Cos the bodybuilding is an art. And that's what they do; pick up weights, then put them back down, then pick them up again, etc.

  13. I think it's more unacceptable now than when I was teenager. Back then there were no organizations like NoFap or Fighting the New Drug. The only people who seemed to be against it was Christians, there were no secular group saying it was bad. But now we even have movies showing how it can be a bad thing and celebrities speaking about the dangers of it. So yes it's more unacceptable but there still some who accept it.

In regards to the science of the dangers of porn it's seems to be inconclusive. There was an interesting episode of the Science VS podcast where they investigated whether it's an proper addiction. The conclusion was that it could become an addiction like drinking coffee can become an addiction, but it's not on the same level as drug and alcohol addiction. The bottom line is that there's not enough data to determine that it's a dangerous addiction since internet porn is rather a new thing.

I don't have any large caches of data to contribute, but I did overhear one guy talking to his friends about the internet and its benefits and drawbacks, and porn was mentioned as a problem, although it was pretty hesitant the way he said it.

I think that it will become recognized as a real problem, especially with stuff like VR equipment making it more addictive. It will still take years for it to be more fully recognized as an issue, and we really need to be more open and direct about talking about it as a problem. I'm not saying you need to head out to a street corner with a sign and start shouting at random strangers, but when it comes up in conversation, we really need to talk about the abuse involved in its production and the health and mental problems it causes for people who consume it.

    OT:
I think that we also need more laws regulating and eliminating it. It's entirely too easy for people, especially children, to get into porn. People always bring up Prohibition and how that failed, but I think that porn is a completely different industry, and that if it was approached with the same kind of propaganda (not always a bad thing) as cigarettes, we could make real progress in reducing the harmful impact it has on millions of people.

It's always been unacceptable. You don't hear people bragging about how much porn they watch, or gfs/wives being happy if their husbands watch it.

Ya I think society is hypersexualized beyond repair.

I used to be all for that organization. I still value them but I no longer am actively involved with their efforts. Fighting porn is useless. I support other organizations however and a new one they seem to be connected with.

But their name is a little deceiving, they do more educating than fighting, fighting is kind of their way of describing educating younger people on the harms of porn.

I just want to become a pornfree person and draw close to people who do not value and use any porn whatsoever. These people are as rare as lotus flowers these days but they exist. This site is living, breathing proof they exist!

Or there is a moral outrage against it. Think Puritan Revolution and Luddite Destruction. this could possibly happen in America.... where anything can happen.

I would love it if something like this happened. Change happens in the hearts of individuals first and foremost.

Yes, but how do you find such people in real life. Because you never want to mention the unmentionable right? Do you just see it in their eyes. You know when you've been on Nofap for too long [the site that is] when you are talking to someone, and wondering if they are a dirty sneaking little masturbator... ha ha
