Urges are stronger this time after relapse.

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by calistenicshype, Apr 20, 2017.

  1. Hello.

I am currently on my 2nd attempt to reach 90 days this day. My last relapse was 3 days ago. Currently, I am having stronger urges this day to the extent that I need to install an internet blocker to prevent me from accessing the porn sites. My first streak was 71 days, which is my longest and 1st attempt.

This week has been hard for me because I am spending time at home preparing for my exams next week. Since I don't study well in public places, studying at home is the only option for me. I am solely relying on my willpower for now. Once my exams end, I will start my part-time job, which will help to distract me from the urges. Hopefully, I can get there soon enough. Having trouble dealing with the urges mentally and it is affecting my exam preparation.

When I relapsed, I realized that my erection came quickly the moment I watched the first video. It was instant stimulation and gratification. Unfortunately, I didn't feel bad about my relapse at that time. But now, I feel that it is even harder to get rid of this addiction. Anyone feeling the same way? I think the only and most effective way for me to rid the urges is to have short and intense workouts. Have to figure out other ways somehow in the long run, can't possible keep relying on exercising as it is physically tiring on my body.

I welcome any suggestions or thoughts on this. Appreciate any inputs.

    Cheers.

  3. Don't back away from installing a porn blocker or similar - if you need that crutch to help you now, then use it. I'd also suggest do as much of your studying and revising without a laptop or internet access, just to remove the temptation as much as you can. I always find that getting out of the house helps me. I'm not saying study in public necessarily, but regular breaks do help with studying, and it gets you out into an area you can't slip up.

    Good luck bud!

  4. Thanks for the input. Appreciate it. From your counter I see that you have not watched P for more than 100+ days, do you still MO? What are your thoughts on that?

    Cheers.

Man 71 days for a first attempt. You can be proud. I think what you experiencing is the chaser, that always comes as a bitch when relapsing. Get through the next few days, and you will find it easier! Catch your readings on the chaser effect, and you'll understand that it is temporary! Gooed luck and stick to your guns the next days! You can do this! The next streak is going to be better for you!

My last streak was 35 days, unfortunately i found it harder for me to start rebooting after that, not because the urges but i had false feeling of being in controls of my addiction.
I'm starting again after one year of my first streak.

This is normal because you become more sensitive with nofap. When you relapse after a partial reboot, your body becomes more sensitive to the stimulation and domaine. Your body and mind says ahhhh that's what I've been missing, feels so good.
Over time and with even deeper success it feels good just to think about sex, and mental masturbation becomes a thing..
The key is pranayama or lots of exercise, and if the exercise is not sustainable then start practicing pranayama. This is even better to master for the long run. Successful transmutation of energy, sublimation, will decrease your libido and desire for sensory pleasures. It makes the path much easier, but you have to do it right.
When you hold breath retention, make sure you keep a pure mind.
    Good luck!

  9. Appreciate the advice. I do meditate everyday for 15 minutes and I regulate my breathing by breathing in 4 secs, holding it for 4 secs and out for 4 secs. It has been pretty helpful. I guess these few days are the hardest for me, but I will try my best to power through.

    Cheers.

  10. For me, it wasn't M that was the issue per se - it was porn, and how it was impacting on my relationship with my SO. Suffice it to say, it was changing me - both within that relationship, and sexually. I've been with my SO for just over 8 years now, and sexually active from a few months in, so we or I never saw M or O as an issue - other than my porn use, we had a fairly regular sex life, and I'm happy to be continuing that. If anything, I find an active sex life helps with not wanting to look at porn.

  11. That's great. Cool story. Well I don't have the option of having sex, so it is hard for me in a way. But I am active in sports and I channel my energy toward improving performance. Probably in the future, I would be in a relationship (I have never dated before so I don't really know) and my perspective will change. But for now, I am focusing on leading a healthy lifestyle and even though now I am in a rough stretch, but I think I am getting better. Staying focused on not counting days and quitting porn for life.

    Cheers.
