What are effective ways to block the bad images of google images (and similiar protocols) without blocking it completely? OpenDNS does not block it, and I've selected safesearch, but I'd like to make it a little more difficult to view the P.

Use bing? They have a search image filter that allows you to adjust whether you want a strict, moderate, or allow all, image search result.

Outside of the personal opinion that I feel google offers better results than bing, their filter offers the same issue - it only takes a quick click to change it. I personally don't believe in taking away all choice by putting it behind passwords that get thrown away, because I don't think that's enough personal accountability, but I would like it if it were a little more difficult than a quick change in search settings.

Just look at it as training wheels. You can't take it off eventually, but give it 30 or 60 days, and then turn it back off.

K9 is the way to go! There is a category called "open image/search"; click on that and you won't be able to access any image search.

If you are committed to do NF, just block it completely. 90 days later when your willpower is strong you can unblock it, 3 month of no Google image will not kill you.

K9 doesn't seem to be blocking Google Images for me, even though I disabled "open image/search". I can't load images.google.com, but if I do a regular Google search and click on the Images tab, I get images. Does anyone know a way to fix this?

  7. Great advice, I'll take it. If you're right hand causes you to sin...
