Sometimes, our dopamine receptors are permanently damaged?

There are so many dudes having same problem in here,
You have NOT permanently damaged your receptors, brain has a special property called NEUROPLASTICITY,
so you cannot damage anything, specially an addiction like PMO.

Orgasm raising your dopamine is not even 1/10th of what is raised by meth, people who are addicted to meth for years are not getting permanently damaged receptors so your cannot be damaged, dont worry about it.

As far as your recovery, it's certainly going to take time, your brain doesnt know what to do, its like a new birth of you and your brain, where your brain has to work in order to produce stress reducing hormones, sleep inducing hormones etc, which the brain is not used to, your brain has been wired to only 1 thing - FAPPING,
Stress - solution is fapping, Anxiety- solution is fapping, Insomnia- solution is fapping,
you see you have literally made your brain dependent on dopamine rushes it gets from PMO, it is going to take time dude,

Does a new born baby start running straight away? HELL NO,
first it stumbles and fall, then it start walking, then brisk walking and then running.
You are in this stuble and fall phase where you are stumbling (you feeling fine), and falling (withdrawal symptoms),
just give it some time, your brain will begin to function normally.
Also, delta fos b is gone around 6-8 weeks, so it could be it's withdrawal symptoms too .
You have to feel it to heal it, you have to feel all these emotions which you never experienced since 10 years, because you covered all of them by dopamine rush, so your brain don't know how to deal with these emotions.

Just hang in there, i know its scary but trust the process, you will be fine. :)

  5. No one can tell you exactly. I would estimate, based on the information you have given, 5-8 months.

  6. Dopamine receptors CANNOT be injured, this is physically and chemically impossible in your case. You need time. The experience says 90 days are necessary for reboot, well wait... When you find the person and good time for that, do not worry, everything will work perfectly well. Every morning, you have the proof for that! Be confident!

I appreciate the input. I had derived my comment from the NoFap reboot basics: https://www.nofap.com/rebooting/

In the future, I will refine the way I speak about this topic as to not create confusion.

I started fapping at roughly 15 years old, and only realized the harm in fapping in 2014, at 30 years old. That's 15 years. It took another 2 years of me fighting the reboot battle. I can't say how long it actually took until I was rebooted, but I'd guess that it took at least one year.
All that really matters is that I kept up the fight, and although it was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, I kept fighting and I finally won. I used to get wet dreams every week or two also and I hated it, and felt hopeless at times, but I got up every single time and kept fighting, and now I have finally won that battle too.
I have more control over my lust now than I ever thought possible, and there is nothing more rewarding than this freedom, because the only true freedom is the freedom from our own desires.

You have to stick with the program if you really want to see results . Yes, you'll have some tough times throughout your journey but if you stay patient & remain hopeful, you'll get the benefits you've been ultimately looking for .

You had addiction of 15 years that is alot of time,
so it took you 1 year to get healed?, so it might take 1 year for me too?
and now, is your ED completely got cured? and can you get erections just by thinking about sex?

Will I get permanently cured? I mean if I begin sex with my gf after 1 year, will I go back to my addictive ways?
or can I have sex with her as much as I want?

Most methamphetamine is largely composed of ephedrine or pseudoephedrine, both of which can be found in over-the-counter decongestants such as Sudafed and Contac, although access to these drugs is now restricted in many states. The drug also contains elements from lithium batteries, rock salt, lye, iodine, paint thinner, drain cleaner, gasoline additives, aluminum foil, and matchbooks (red phosphorus).

The dopamine released from orgasm is simply DOPAMINE, it doesnt contain other toxic chemicals which are present in meth.
So just PMO cannot damage your receptors permanently

Perhaps it does not get said enough, but no-PMO is meant to enable one to discover -- but also to develop -- a healthy, pure (dare I say "chaste?") way of being in the world. I think you have to work at it. What will do you with the inner cleansing that is taking place? If after a year you have both intuitively and deliberately found the non-P-polluted and non-P-dependent you were always meant to be, then he will know how to love and make love with cosmic abandon! No need to worry too much about that guy now. Take 1 step at a time. Success, bro!

Well, here's the thing.. I did not start nofap because I had ED, I started nofap for spiritual reasons, because I realized the damage done by PMO, orgasm, wd, etc on a spiritual level.. I did have premature ejaculation though, and was not free from any ED by any means. I also had a hard time getting an erection unless I was watching good porn.
Today, everything has changed! If I imagine a woman naked and visualize her sexually in any way, I get an erection immediately. i am not your typical Fapstronaut though, I practice pranayama and meditation every single day and transmute my sexual energy up into my brain/pineal gland and then down into my heart.
I believe that this really has strengthened my ability to have more concentration, focus, and visualization. With these growing skills, if I allow myself to just visualize a woman sexually I feel like I am PMO'ing now, it's so lustfull and damaging to me. That type of action only leads to me having urges to watch porn or fap, so I avoid anything that feels lust driven.
I don't know exactly how long it took me to be honest, I wasn't keeping track. I had a goal of killing my PMO addiction forever, I diddnt plan on ever going back, and I wasn't ever going to give up. I am on permanent hard mode for the rest of my life.
I had a girlfriend for over a year, and that ended a few months ago. I practiced karezza with her (sex without orgasm). If you have a wife than I recommend practicing karezza and never orgasming, and this will heal you even faster because of the added energy from your partner. I believe the key to healing is a long period of no PMO, and I reinforce the O, no orgasm what so ever, even with girlfriend. The less you think about sex the faster you will heal as well. If possible, attempt to avoid anything that triggers a wet dream.
These are my tips for a speedy reboot, and I suggest continuing this for the rest of your life. What point is healing if your just going to go back to your old ways and damage yourself all over again. Don't worry about how long it takes, take it one day at a time and dont worry about anything other than no PMO. You will succeed if you do this I promise. Your causing yourself too much stress.
Relax! This is a long term war, not a short battle.
My guess is that it could also take you around a year to heal, but that is a year without PMO'ing. Resets prolong healing. Good luck!
