for those of you who don't filter your smartphones/tablets etc how do you not eventually relapse ?

I've come to the conclusion that for right now I can't have a smartphone because I'm not responsible with it. I know getting rid of electronics isn't the one answer to freeing yourself from this addiction but it's one of many tools. that or filtering your devices which is another tool. my question is how do you people who have longer streaks do it without eventually relapsing?

    1) Realize that you are choosing to view P. Your urges cannot control your body and make you view P. Also, not viewing P will not kill you. The battle starts within.

    2) Work on replacing P with healthier activities.

I've done all that trust me.i go to 12 step meetings, journal etc but I always eventually end up relapsing, whether it's something on YouTube I accidently see or a click bait video on reddit etc I've come to the conclusion for right now I need some time away from my smartphone.not to mention I'm constantly on my phone that's an addiction for me in of it seld. my longest streaks was when I had left my iPad at work. I'm going to do the same this time but with my phone.

You have to become comfortable living and functioning without porn.

There was one point I couldn't go through my Facebook/Instagram newsfeed, see a picture of a hot girl, and not download it and masturbate to it later.

But now, I see a picture, I admire it and I move on.

I've gone a little over a month of no porn and I've finally realized that after years of viewing it every single day, it no longer controls me.

You have to be determined to control it, don't let it control you.

i agree with sparky.. simply dont want to have to rely on filters for the rest of your life... i relapsed yesterday after 3weeks and 3days, i had no porn blockers but hey i want to do this by my own free will...!

lol do any of you guys read what I wrote? I said for right now i don't trust myself with electronics. I'm not responsible with them. this isn't a forever thing or maybe it will be idk. I replied to a comment in this thread saying how my longest streaks ever was when I left my iPad at work.
the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. in my 12 step meetings they say if you keep relapsing on your smartphone, or whatever something needs to change atleast for the timebeing. many addicts have filters it's not that they don't trust themselves but they don't trust the addict in them.

to be honest maybe if you had a filter that was difficult to bypass you wouldn't have relapsed. some days your going to rely on your free will and other days your filters are going to be your life saver. there going to be the difference if you relapsed or not sometimes

we read bro we read.... but how does any addict quit an addiction? most of the time mentally, they dont want to be put through this nightmare anymore its ruining them like nothing before but hey if you want to use a filter use a filter, k9 is good and can be used on apple products and computers im pretty sure... its good but let me note i have tried the filters and you would be amazed at the way your brain thinks of ways to get to it lol. good luck :)

I understand the frustrations. You asked us what we did, in my case I shared what I did. Some people need strong blockers. Personally, I prefer the idea of accountability software. It allows you to go wherever you want, but your designated AP will be notified if you go looking for stuff. Might be worth a look.

for that reason they are easy to bypass I will start leaving my acting out devices at work. it worked once before until I starting bringing them home again

I hear you I tried Covent eyes but I don't have a person to set up an AP so I canceled it. I bet it does work for people though
