Let's do a 10-days-Challenge. Who wants to join?

    In Your Head

    • accept that you have these urges, that you're torn in two directions and that you can't controll yourself as you wish
    • forgive yourself
    • think of the positive thinks in your life, the people who care about you and the open future that lays before you (full of opportunities, think of what you've achieved or what you did that was good ---> BE THANKFUL
    • find your personal reasons or remember yourself (again and again)
    • appreciate the nofap Community and this Challenge and remember: you're not alone
    • realize: you can stay absent in spite of your urges. However miserable you may feel, you'll win in the end if you stay clean. Either you'll find other measures to calm yourself or compensate your bad feelings or you'll just live through it: embrace the pain
    • recall: urges are short-lived. Thoughts and feelings changes. The best is not just to wait for it but to change something that you can change (environment, activity ...). You may think and feel that you're in a miserable state now, but that's not the full truth. True is also that you're on the road to recovery and the more you struggle, the more you succeed to get out of those old patterns, the faster you'll go on that road.
    • imagine you'll be strong this time. Visualize how what it will be like and how you'll feel. Visualize moments of the future that you want.
    • But don‘t argue with yourself when you‘re „going down“. Don‘t trust yourself because: Addiction is a lying mothafucka! Rather make an action plan

Taking Action (short and long term)

    • live your life and do your duties if possible, don‘t let your life being dictated by your addiction / your recovery. But see it as an opportunity to change your whole life for the better
    • choose supporting, mood-lifting environments with few triggers
    • get help, socialize, ask for advice
    • eat when you‘re hungry, sleep when you‘re sleepy
    • care for yourself and others
    • do small simple tasks without much thinking
    • choose a meaningful task which is fulfilling to you (or put purpose in a task you choose to do)
    • exercise, move your body, meditate or do any recreational activity
    • do/learn something new
    • make action plans, own your reboot, find your personal solutions, improve your self-competence

Well, I hit about 4 days and then relapsed. Still, it's progress. So now I go for 5 days. Try to beat my last streak.

Well i made it passed ten days. It's definitely doable guys. Submit your bodies to discipline and take it one day at a time. We'll make it through together. If it helps anyone out there take these tips and advice and implement them if your urges are too strong. I made it this far without feeling those strong urges by intermediate fasting, cutting meat out from my diet, working out, recognizing my triggers and not allowing myself to put myself in a situation where i'm tempted to give in, and prayer(asked for strength and self domain). That's not to say I didn't get tempted or felt urges. It just wasn't so strong that i wanted to act out on them and i credit that to God, fasting and diet change. Stay strong guys and gals.

  9. So I made it to 10 days (and will continue of course). I've had the odd moment of temptation over the last 10 days but in general it's been surprisingly easy. In the last few days especially I've found it easy - could I be flatlining already? I thought that kicked in later.

    Day 9.
One day left. Never achieved this before in 9 years! Really... Or at leat that I can barely remember. However, I had nightmares last night dreaming that I was posting and surfing in threads in NoFap. It's odd. The urges even attack me while dreaming! However, I tried to maintain myself clean and don't allowing any kind of lustful thought grow in my mind. Tomorrow I would say that I make a 10 days row strike just by being a newbie. Feeling great, but also little bit confused about why doing it. But anyway, this discipline will help me in the future.

I've been feeling ill since yesterday and am bedridden somewhat, so not much danger of relapsing today. Still, need to be cautious...

    Day 10.
Mission accomplished. I arrived here expecting to fail, but all of you really encourage me and I did it! Hope I can continue with another 10 days. Never achieved this time before, but I achieved it in a row! So let's how far I could get. Thanks everyone, and see for the next challenge!

No, but I've got an idea concerning this restart: we could show in our Signature, besides the current streak, the numbers of days we were abstinent in each 10-day-Challenge. Like this: 9 | 10 | 8 | 10
or maybe with check marks for full 10 days or something similar.

At least for people who want to continue this form of Challenge for a while, this could become a motivating common form for accountability.

I'm happy to see that many of you have succeeded the Challenge. Even more inspiring when it's such an extraordinary achievement, as with @The Errol.

Unfortunately I relapsed on day 9. It sounds preposterous, I know, just a few hours were missing. But my private life is in a mess right now. As a matter of fact PMO is still my number one practice to counter huge emotional stress. And it's really hard to change that IN a moment of huge emotional stress.
I don't want to make excuses though. I should have write a post here, call a friend. But instead I made a deal with myself, I just wanted to watch a certain nude scene without masturbating and then I forgot about the deal...

Well, 9 days are above my average. So I'm glad I made it that far, I will even do the weekend which was planned as a reward for 10 days actually.

I'm better off without PMO - no matter what.
For real now! In the 2nd Challenge I'll make it!
