Okay guys, fapstronaut here who's been doing this for the past year with the help of an accountability partner found here, and for the most part has been successful with a few bumps in the road, although I have not had any sexual relations since. I am working on all that. So I am not an expert, I have not fully been successful, but I do have one piece of advice that I am sure of. DO NOT EDGE. For one, it will set you back, but the not so obvious thing is that EVERY SINGLE TIME I edge, usually waking up and touching myself, as the hours go by in the day, I will get a RAGING headache that is unbearable. If you are a fapper who has gotten headaches through this addiction, it is more than likely due to excessive edging.

We may feel like we are finding a cheat in this game if you will, when you edge but don't orgasm. That is not the case. It is actually worse in my experience as someone who has fully relapsed as short as a week and half ago after a very long streak.

HERE'S MY SERIOUS ADVICE. Of course, try not to masturbate, period. BUT, if you wake up with that excessive urge and you can't seem to help it, just masturbate. No visual stimulus, no porn, just fully masturbate and ejaculate, and reset your counter. Start new after that, and don't beat yourself up over it. In the long run, it is the better option. This is the most important advice I can give to all of you as some one who has gone 95+ days during a streak and someone who's penis function is back to normal for the most part after major issues.

I agree with that. No matter what you do NoFap for, unless you are strong enough to just beat it on your first try. The most important thing, whether you relapse or not, is a clarity. Not black white Grey, but transparent. I looked at porn 5s 5h, relapse! I just went straight for the orgasm or wanked for hours and stopped, relapse! The worst thing you can do is lie to yourself. And since you relapsed letting it go is far healthier than continous fapping, it makes your mind foggy and balls hurting

It is true . apparently "edging" is worse than "relapsing" . I can't say from experience since I haven't edged or relapsed throughout my journey so far but from what I read, they both mess with your dopamine levels and you wouldn't want that .

Masturbating for a prolonged period but holding in your orgasm.

  8. Edging was one of the main problems I had and one of the reasons I was so glad to learn about NoFap and glad to learn that porn addiction is indeed real. It was not uncommon for me to edge myself for 20 hours at a time. It left me looking and feeling like a zombie. It SUCKED.

  10. Boredom, not having any responsibilities, and unemployment had a lot to do with it. It was a way to pass the time, but it got way out of control. Thankfully I believe those days are over for me now.

I edged without P 3 days ago for maybe 3 minutes and still was able to stop without any headaches or anything. Are you sure I should have gone to O? I don't know. I know edging is the worst thing and you can spend 3 hours edging instead of a short relapse with O, but if I still was able to stop. Now I feel good and motivated.

Edging is bad as having the orgasm. Thing here is, that edging releases that dopamine as well, and gives you more of that if practised long than regular ejaculation+orgasm. Technically one can cheat just edging whole week: testosterone does raise. But brains do not heal at all. Been there done that:oops:

Even worse, if you've ever made "dry" orgasms, one can make orgasms without ejaculating. I've done that too:oops: I've never been so depressed and mentally dead than after session of that. Orgasm is basically a drug; it is meant to be used only when one is really succesfully fertilized woman. If male doesn't get it, he is constantly restless and gets shit done. Hah. Restless... I mean, active and full of power, because he can get his pleasure from simple things like working or science! That is the magic of Nofap:)

Edging is one of the worst things you can do.

Typically, porn addiction (and even just general sex addiction) works by conditioning the brain to surges in dopamine. Cocaine and meth do the same thing, but the high only lasts for a short time. The high from sexual arousal, however, can last for hours ... and an hours-long-high is exactly what you're getting when you edge. Basically, it f***s up your brain chemistry and solidifies those neuropathways way more than just a quick rub-out.

Plus, have you ever edged without giving yourself an O? I certainly haven't. What's the point?

  14. I agree that it can just leave the bad unwanted fantasy/fetish there and sometimes when I edge or fantasize, I think it might be better to just vanilla fap to expel the sexual urge.

Would this also be considered edging:

Flirting with girls on a hookup app on the phone, to the point that you have a raging erection that won't go away. Or generally any time you just hang out and have sexual thoughts and get a prolonged erection?

    Never did any masturbating.

Probably yes. Unless you want to cheat yourself, reset your clock. But DO NOT FEEL BAD ABOUT IT!
What has happened, it has happened. NO use getting worked out about it..
    Let it go!

I agree with the OP. Edging will lead to relapse. Maybe not right away, but if you start eventually you will relapse. If you keep taking yourself to the edge, eventually you will go over it. That's my experience.

if you do this 'edge' thing for 20hrs at a time, what is it mostly... just sustaining a hard on every few minutes for 20 hours?

one of the things i'm thinking is for anyone undergoing a reboot that involves trying to overcome any ED, would anyone think edging at some point during the reboot is necessary and beneficial?

Wouldn't a periodic 'check' to see if a erection can appear + be sustained, help identify that an ED is overcome.
