Willpower by Tierney and Baumeister and The Power of Habit by Duhig are great for self improvement. As your read into them you can create you're own synthesis between the two to understand how to he the change you wish to see in yourself.

    • Rich Dad Poor Dad (Robert Kiyosaki)
    • The 4-Hour Workweek (Timothy Ferriss)
    • How to Win Friends and Influence People (Dale Carnegie)
    • The 48 Laws of Power (Robert Greene)
    • The Way of the Superior Man (David Deida)
    • Man's Search for Meaning (Viktor Frankl)
    • Mastery (Robert Greene)
    • Mindfulness for Beginners (Jon Kabat-Zinn)
    • The Obstacle is the Way (Ryan Holiday)

I just found out about these books when I was looking for reviews for 'The Power of Now (Eckhart Tolle)'

That's how I found out more about the above list. Plan on starting with this list myself. Hope to get done with it by the end of the year. I haven't read a self help book in my life, so this ought to be a good start.

"Your Brain On Porn" by Gary Wilson is packed with good information.

And while some of the stories within it might be triggering, I loved "The Truth" by Neil Strauss. Basically, it's his story of leaving sex addiction rehab early and going on a quest to 'find himself' through all sorts of alternatives to monogamy. Long story short--the sexual experiences that he thought would bring ultimate fulfillment failed to satisfy. His book is honest, raw, hilarious, and thought-provoking.

  10. Tools of Titans by Tim Ferriss is probably one of the best books I've ever read. He's collated all of the best parts of interviews he's done with famous and successful people in the last few years, and included all the things that they do to make themselves more productive, happier, efficient etc.

He even includes a bit about his own 'No Porn No Booze' 30 day challenge!

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, you want the original version pulished in 1937.
Taoist Secrets of Love (cultivating male sexual energy) Mantak Chia 1984

  12. The Magic of Thinking Big - David J Schwartz

I wouldn't read any of the books above (I read them all...). They won't get you ahead even though they have beautiful words. They are not very practical in my experience. If you really want to get ahead in life, here is what I recommend:

    - Complaint-Free World by Will Bowen (stop complaining)
    - Intimate Connections by David Burns (social skills & dating)
    - Feeling Good Together by David Burns (how to handle arguments in your relationships)
    - Feeling Good by David Burns (treating Depression through CBT)
    - The Magic by Rhonda Byrne (Gratitude)
    - Problem-Solving 101 by Ken Watanabe (decision making, goal setting, planning, problem solving)
    - Instant Anaylsis by David J. Lieberman (self-defeating behavior)
    - Friendship Factor by Allen McGinnis (friendship)
    - Wishcraft by Barbara She (life planning)
    - Richest Man in Babylon (personal finance)
    - Pomodoro Technique by Francesco cirillo (time management)
    - The power of your supermini by Vernon Howard (eastern philosophy)
    - Changelogy by Dr. Norcross (change ANY behavior within 90 days)
    - bigger leaner stronger by Micheal Matthews (working out)
    - shredded chef by Micheal Matthews (cook book)
    - Maximum Achievement by Brian Tracy (success)

Go get 'em. If you need more recommendations, I hook you up.

Just finishing up "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F***" by Mark Manson.

It's not bad ... kind of a juvenile writing style, but you could have guessed that by the title. Some great stories in it, a lot I agree with, and a lot I disagree with.

  15. I would strongly, strongly recommend 'Deep Work' by Cal Newport. He's a computer science professor who writes about the importance of deep-minded concentration (rather what he calls 'depth') in life and work and how modern technology (phones, social media), gradually inhibits our natural ability to be attentive.
