One day in and looking for a reboot challenge.

Discussion in 'New to NoFap' started by Dirty Dan Vs Pinhead Larry, Jun 22, 2017.

  1. Hey everyone!
I'm happy to join the NoFap community. I spent all day yesterday reading the starting guide and the Porn Addiction 101 article and I'm ready to reboot.
I'm 20 years old and I started watching porn when I was 13. I would watch it for hours a day, even on a laptop in the living room (risky, I know lol.) I never masturbated until I was 17. At that time I was being sexually abused by someone I knew who was also 17. This person abused me mentally for 2 years and introduced me to masturbation. When I masturbated for the first time I felt really guilty because my Religion forbids masturbation. After that this person forced me to masturbate in front of him while he did the same. That lead to an addiction to masturbation on top my existing porn addiction. Since then I have recovered from the abuse and received the proper health treatments through therapy and psychologists, but the PMO addiction still remained and therapists waved it off by saying its normal for
people my age to do PMO.
My goals are to stop PMO, exercise regularly and eat less. I'm 290 lbs and my weight will very soon cause me health problems. I am also diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome, and getting off of this routine of PMO will also be a bit of a challenge. I believe that rebooting will help with my anxiety and nerves and also help me in my treatment of my Aspergers. I don't know how adult life is without PMO. I regret wasting all those years in my teenage hood PMOing. I PMO about once or twice a day, with and without porn and I feel that a 90 day reboot will be a bit over whelming.
I like to hear what everyone has to say concerning reboot and which challenge I should take. I have gone 1 day without PMO. I will be posting more on my progress on the journal and reboot threads.
Sorry for a long post, I just really wanna get commited to this. I know it will not be easy but I know this community will help me out.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you all!

@Dirty Dan Vs Pinhead Larry Best wishes mate! You did come to the right place. Porn is a killer no doubt. Masturbation keeps you locked in in the path of sexual and mental decay as well. It is hard and we know. Look at me; back in day one. But don't worry, better days are ahead of you and me. God bless

  4. Thank you! I really needed that. I think browsing the forums will cheer me up a bit. God bless.

Welcome to NoFap where you are amongst friends who are here to encourage you and sometimes challenge you but not judge you.

The enemy is here to steal, kill and destroy. What are your current strategies for combating the enemy called PMO?

    Hi,
Thanks for sharing your story. I'm sorry to hear about your abuse. I am sure it was a living hell to go through it and get over it with therapy.
I was using PMO to deal with difficult emotions and getting off of it requires a lot of courage. So way to go for your decision!
You are on the right path. You just need to take one day at a time. Remind yourself of your goals and the person you will be when you are PMO free.
Therapists sometimes fail to see that P is a problem and its not natural to watch it a few time a day and MO. That's why you have to take your destiny into your own hands and reboot :) good luck !
    Strength and love,
    B

With pleasure man. We're all in the same boat here and we can beat this together!
I find it good to check in on the site and read stuff when I feel an urge to PMO come up. It reminds me to keep myself away from P.

  10. Same here. Whenever I get temptations I come on here and it reminds me of why I started rebooting in the first place.

  12. I messed up. Less than a month after I made this post I relapsed and I kept going for almost a year.
I relapsed after moving from my old childhood home to a new one. The stress of the move, the unpacking, the clutter of boxes filled the rooms and stacked upon each other reaching the ceiling, losing items and setting up furniture. All of that really stressed me out. I tried my hardest not to PMO but after a week, I gave in. I've been going back to the same routine until now. One of the most difficult things I can imagine is returning to the forum, admitting my failure and starting over again. It feels like I'm back at the beginning. Does anyone have any advice? I want to start over, I have to try again and accept that relapse is part of recovery.

Don't treat yourself bad for your failures, be proud of the times you did it right.
Trust in yourself and get back to it.
I'm new here but I hope my words give you strength, I'm starting this journey but I'm open to help anyone.
    You can do it mate!
