    Hello Fellow Fapstronauts,

So, first of all, I rebooted. All of this advice has helped me, and the few people I have shared it with, but everyone is different, so if it doesn't work for you, I apologize.

Firstly, if anyone's going to beat this, they gotta have the guts and commitment. Anyone who's already rebooted is tough and can handle the suffering and pain that comes with the process.

Some of the advice or examples below is geared to religious people, and men. This is everything that has helped ME. I am a Catholic, and I am a young man (16 years old). Atheists and women are very welcome to keep reading :)

    Pay attention!

    1. Visit the forum often and offer help and support to other Fapstronauts. The greatest way to help yourself is to help others.

    2. Watch the Sacred Sexuality Project on youtube. It's done by a wonderful Catholic man named Mark Queppet. He offers a lot of great tips for the journey of abstinence. Watch some videos (Not too much! Too much info at once, might be too much info to take in) and take his advice to heart.

    3. For me, I prayed a lot, but if you don't pray maybe only meditation would help, but I am not sure. I would pray a lot, and meditate on the things I would need to change in my life. I meditated often in the beginning, but not as much anymore now that I have rebooted.

    4. Number four only applies if you're religious. What I would do is, replace my past PMO addiction with something greater. So, I made a vow to be always increasing my own Catholic faith. For example, I read the Holy bible every night, I also read the Imitation of Christ, St. Augustine Day by Day, and I am always working on my prayer list... which consists of things I need help in with life, sick people I know, etc. So, in a nut shell, always try to increase your faith.

    5. If I was getting an urge, or craving, I would leave the area, and pray that Jesus would descend upon me and keep me safe. Number 5 is also intertwined with making sacrifices. If anything is hurting your rebooting process, take it out of your life, or avoid it. I went through many sleepless nights, because every time I would lay down in bed, I would get a PMO urge. I would get out of bed, and try again. It kept happening, so I just would stay up all night long. I watched the beautiful sun rise a few times :)

I also developed a writing exercise. I call it, "Analyzing Baby Steps back to Relapse." Here's an example...

    Relapse Potentials

    *Thinking about sex
    *Dwelling on past porn experience
*Not doing anything to get rid of an erection
    *Going to bed early

    New Habits

*Stop thinking about sex so much.
*Stop thinking about my past porn experiences
*If I ever get an erection, I will hold my breath for 20-40 seconds, or squeeze my kegel muscles.
*I will start going to bed early.

Any questions or comments are greatly appreciated!

Great post Squeaky! A lot of fantastic information. And I'll use the hold-your-breath technique to get rid of an unwanted erection. Congratulations on your reboot! And going to bed early is definitely a thing I've been doing.

Squeaky, if I only could go back to my 16 years!... We haven't tools like NoFap.org back then. You guys are lucky! Share the word among your colleagues!

    Now I'm 26 and recovering.

To people at my age or older than me: there is always time... Let's remember the parable of the workers in the vineyard (Mt 20, 1-16)... :)

    Thanks,
Very helpful and inspiring. Watched a few of Sacred Sexuality videos and was put off a bit. I know the guy is just trying to be funny and use humor. But he did seem quite arrogant and and did not say much about his own struggles. He did not seem to show humility, that i am expecting from those of you guys who are religious. He seems to be speaking from a pedestal with a "better than thou" attitude with arrogance and pride. Hopefully I am wrong. Anyway, still helpful.

Haha, I have acted arrogant a few times around my family, and I am always shot down. Maybe it's a Catholic thing, but I dunno. I get what you mean, but his advice is good. I listened to it, and here I am :)

No worries, I was born and raised up Catholic and do kind of understand:cool: I still remember being taught that "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble", or something like that. And "pride always comes before the fall". I like non-religious people because they turn to be a bit more humble and human. But I respect everyone!

Squeaky Soul such a great post! I am sure going to take your adviced in helping me to quit PMO for good! I have been three weeks without watching porn, but I felt so hard! Just like yesterday! I have a huge urges to watch porn! My mind is full of porn scene I have seen in the past and it created intense craving for me, I felt like going insane! But To see what you have been through many sleepless night, I do felt very the same way like you! I have a hard time to sleep because when I lay down, those porn images would pop up! but now I am not going to give up! I believe if you can do it, I can do too! Thanks alot Squeaky Soul!

Yup! If you think you're gonna relapse, don't sleep, catch up on homework, draw, listen to music on the radio, etc.

The same thing happened with me. I have been thinking about past porn experience too. The trick is, just stop thinking about it as soon as you start.

    Hi ...
Thanks for the advises , holding my breath seems a lot easier than pinching myself :D
Since this is a thread about advises for reboot , I'll write some advises I was either told or discovered from my fight so far.
1- There are a thousand and one thing you can do , even if they seem dull in comparison to porn , all you have to do is start doing something then the urges will go away , then whatever you were doing wouldn't seem dull like your brain had told you.
2- If you trust your friends then throw yourself to them because they will sure as hell catch you .
3- Neither feel too happy about your progress that you let your guard down , nor too sad that you stop caring about your progress.
4- Never try to fight your addiction , only run away from it and it will just go away .
Thanks again for your advises , and I can't wait to read what other advises people have.
