Just finishing the Don Jon movie right now.

Not for everyone. Full of triggers and light porn scenes (it is NOT a porn movie though, it's an hollywood drama).

But it helps me. First, it's a real movie about a guy trying quit porn when he gets in a relationship with a girl (Scarlett Johanson)

What's great about the movie is the porn shown (not my trigger at all) is all acted, faked, surreal. It really shows how most porn on the web is... stupid. So disconnected from reality.

I did not feel an erection at any time during the porn scenes in the movie. It almost made me laugh; It just looks ridiculous... why do we even want that?

Now... Scarlett Johanson, that's another thing. A perfect exemple of a sublime woman.

And here it the nice part of the movie. She has a no porn scene in the movie. She is sexy, of course (you can't blame her for that, she is one of the most beautiful actress out there). But in most scenes, she just kisses, gets closes, cuddles her pmo-addict boyfriend. She is a lover... tender and sexy. All girls just want to be that; they don't to be porn stars replicas in the bedroom. They want to kiss with passion and have sex. So simple.

That got me excited, but i just watched the movie. Nothing more. Watched it like if I was at the tehater.

And all this makes me feel good. Beacause I realised that my brain can actually find that Scarlett Johanson kissing someone with no sex act at all is 1000 times more exciting that any porn scenes.

I think this is a lesson...

Bottom line: give the movie a shot, it's ok. Not awesome, but it does shows the struggle of a PMO addict. If you do get triggers when watching any nude scenes - even if it shown in a ridiculous way, in a satire - stay away from it. You will relapse. Not the goal here!

But for those who can, watch it. How about with a friend? That's safer.

    What do you think?

I found Don Jon to almost mirror my dilemma almost exactly. Of course with my physical composition, I couldn't understand why a nicely built guy who gets girls regularly could still have a problem with pornography. I too had a girlfriend who thought pornography was repulsive and disgusting. I told her it was something that i had been affected by long before our relationship and that i needed accountability/support to help me to deal with it(i actually had made great progress before we met), but i guess her impression of me had been cemented when she found i watched porn for recreation. Bottom line, the movie is good for showing how porn screws of your perception of reality, and i'm glad joseph was brave enough to do a movie about what a lot of guys deal with in silence and secrecy. And yes, Scarlett Jo is beautiful.

What sort of "light porn" are we talking about here? I was thinking I might watch the movie but I don't want to feel I've ruined my streak. I'm a bit sensitive even to kissing/ cuddling on screen (that's PMO that's made me sensitive). But I can manage.

The movie "Thanks for Sharing" is also quite good, I mean they're only low budgetish dramas but they're useful for us. Although that movie also contains triggers. I see there is also the movie "Confessions of a Porn Addict". Anyone seen that one?

    No Brainer,

Not sure if you would be a good candidate to watch Don Jon after all.

[NSFW]Porn scenes are quite explicite. They are mostly shown with flashbacks, quickly, etc. But still. You definitely see some breast, nude bodies, butts etc. [/NSFW]

I saw Thanks for sharing 2 weeks ago. Better movie! Well written, the characters are deeper. And the sex is less intense, according to me.

    Hi Arden

Lol, that doesn't sound too good. Maybe I'll just forget about Don Jon, or watch it much later into my reset. Yeah, I thought Thanks for Sharing was good too, maybe a little long but still good. The big guy was hilarious in the later parts of the film! :)

My opinion, DONT watch the movie. There is definitely porn in it! Because you see he is "logging in" to porn sites. Definitely not a good movie if you dont want to see porn...

I thought it is not a good anti porn movie. I mean, you see some of the results of him watching porn, but I think that it was still open if porn is positive of negative for you.
