    Hi All,

I am signed up to two dating apps; Tinder and Match. I see similarities of these apps/websites to porn in the way they are, or can be, used to provide visual stimulation of whichever gender you are attracted to (especially Tinder).

I want to do this NoFap thing properly but I work quite a lot and am semi-reliant on dating apps to facilitate meeting girls.

    So here it is:

    • What is the consensus within this community around these sort of apps? Is this just a mild substitute for porn? (Very soft porn, if you will)
    • Is it therefore prudent to cease my activity on these applications whilst I am committed to NoFap?
My opinion is that I should probably get rid of Tinder as it is a fairly shallow way of choosing women and borderline objectifying. Plus the images are closer to the way we would view women in porn, i.e., quickly check out her physicals and discard.

I think I could justify Match more, given the focus is on the personality traits etc.

Interested to find out what other people think! :)

    Thanks

    Hi Someguy,

During the first few years of my recovery I was hypersensitive to even mildly pornographic images. Including those on dating sites such as tinder. I would stay away until you have a minimum of 90 days. It will only give you a reason to relapse man, it is really not worth it. Keep your brain as far away from any artificial stimuli during your reboot period, allow yourself to return to a solid baseline. You will thank yourself down the line I promise.

Tinder is owned by Match. Match.com is just a money machine to get your $. They bombard you with the promise of sex to get your$$ its a scam and a huge tease.. meet people in real life.

I was unaware that Match owns Tinder and agree that it is a huge money machine - of course it is!

However, I have met a number of pleasant, attractive girls on Match which I wouldn't have necessarily encountered without the website. I also find that it cuts out some of the bullshit you can come across from normal "courting" such as potential friend-zoning. For these reasons, I personally consider it to be worth the money. Perhaps I have been fortunate with my experience.

Agree with this. I've deleted Tinder off the phone - at least for the 90 days target I am going for. Hopefully I make it that far on this first attempt.
