I wanted to post something I wrote about 8 days into my streak. Although it's not long compared to others just the awareness itself was hard to pass up. I'm on day 10 of my nofap journey, been making a go of this for a few months now.

'I need to share something completely honest. I don't take what I'm about to say too lightly in this area because I was always uncertain even a bit in this area. but I'm pretty proud of the person I'm becoming. Sure I show off by pimping around past accomplishments but the one thing I've been working on for 8 days and counting I'm constantly making new ground. What I'm working through is personal and cuts deep. The colours look brighter, the air crisper, the mind clearer, the heart lighter. This is probably the closest to being devout even when I used to do the Christian thing in the past. I'm free to be myself. No guilt, no shame. This past week I'm working through some existing addictions and behaviours that I've been carrying for decades now that has affected my own life and those I care about the most. In a way I'm reinstalling myself to my original settings, and every day goes by I can walk a lot taller and look people in the eye. I can actually say with 100% certainty I love myself now.'

Thank you! Working on this journey has been huge. I've noticed since passing the threshold of my last streak my conversations with clients are super fluid and I feel genuinely and not just 'professional' happy when someone is in the shop. (Pro tip: as tattoo artists in the service industry we have a habit of sucking at interpersonal skills. We just happen to keep it well hidden from view. I swear some people I've worked with haven't left junior high!) Phone calls are that much easier to carry on and I don't wonder if i just treated so and so like crap then and there lol.

  8. The healing comes from within. To love ones self is to love the world I suspect.
