I very much enjoy the nicely organized, brash, upbeat and accessible style of your post, @TheFutureMe ! And oodles of congratulations on this 100+, 160+ day oasis from the ravages we all know so well. I wish you enormously more and surprising benefits, steel-diamond resolve to continue and expand upon your progress, a brilliant career in psychology and lovely, lovely experiences with the ladies.

Thank you so much for posting. Your situation mirrors mine, expect for me it ED not DE. This really is inspiring.

    You're most welcome!

While DE doesn't bring the same wounds as ED, in both cases getting free from P/M and from the massive amounts of neurochemicals our addicted bodies drown in is a necessary step towards recovery. The desensitization also fades when you start recovering, and if you're a lot like me you end up discovering what it is to be fully functional, and it's awesome! One difficulty with these issues, is that through the challenges we're tempted to "have a go" at trying what state our DE or ED is in right now. This can become a source for relapse, especially if you find little change to your physical issues, it can dampen or even shatter your willpower to carry on. So please make sure you refrain from "trying". It requires a little "faith", so to speak.

I trust you've read the many accounts of fapstronauts that have cured/overcome their ED, and that you noticed how vastly different the recovery durations are. And how successful and happy they are when they realize it's gone!

Be patient and set achievable recursive goals while keeping an eye on where you want to be in the end, would be my advice.

    All the best!

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Yes, I've read many of the success stories on the forum but often worry they are not applicable to me given that I'm am much older than the average Fapstronaut. That's why your story was so inspiring because you are close to my age.

I'm committed to 90 days but I do worry if that'll being enough.

    Thanks again for the input.

If our experience is similar (despite the DE vs ED situation), I take it you've been using for a long time, just as I did. In my case we're talking 25 years of everything you can imagine a 10yo can use for visual sexual stimulation to the Great Internet of Porn we drown into today. Our cases are a little trickier than those of the young ones who are tackling this part of their life - all the biochemical and neurological aspects of behavioral addiction are much stronger in us than it is in them. Therefore when some can reach total recovery in 90 days, we must be careful and patient, because at this stage (while it already is a great achievement compared to previous states we've experienced), the fragility of newly formed neural pathways compared to the overwhelming strentgh of the old defective ones can still be felt - especially in what I call my 'darkest hours' : tired, afflicted, in pain, frustrated, hungry, restless etc.
It's amazing that you're already commited to 90 days, and I wish you all the best for it. I'm confident you'll get there, a few minor setbacks notwithstanding ;) The tools and knowledge and habits you'll develop to get to 90 will get you much further and you'll heal. Only it's not a binary state, your current struggle will ease in the next part of your life, blend, and if the forums can help in one thing (besides being a fantastic amount of data and experiences) it's that they help you keep track of these changes, so you can at all times measure where you were, what you've been through, and where you are now.

Like someone much wiser than me once said, if you're going through hell - keep going. ;)

This is one the comprehensive/truthful posts I've seen and way to go man! We all need the "flame" to ignite the inner anger to declare war on P and the passion to live a better life. They way you describe P addiction has raised the bar to a psychological level. Be there and be good!
