Writing has no gender. You should do it, if you like it.

I used to write poems, now I am mainly focusing on short-stories and song lyrics. My girlfriend enjoys the little short-stories when I send them to her and it makes me feel really good. Sometimes I publish them to the public.

If that's a thing that you enjoy, just do it!

Had thoughts about starting a poetry thread but found this one so I'm posting here (eve tho it's and old one)

When I joined nofap I started to look more into poetry and starting to enjoy it more and more. Also try to write a little myself. Some are happy, some are sad, but both helps me to express my feelings. Would like to share one:

    One race one journey,
    Twisting trough the never.
    At the tunnel's end
    Clarity shines brighter than ever.

    The road is rigged
    with traps and lures.
    Promising riches
    And a life that endures.

    Some will stay the course
To find and answer that is just.
    Disregarding old beliefs,
    Instead in knowledge they trust.

    Our lives are simple,
    Some would say dull.
    We are men of wisdom,
    Also known as the unfaithful.

If you want to get into poetry, go ahead man and have fun with it. Plenty of poets were men. But always remember this:

The ones who will say it's not manly are just jealous about all the girls who will fall for you. ;)

  5. So did I.

I'm in the middle of writing a poem about doing NoFap and planned to post it in the thread. Anyway I'll probably post it on this thread when I'm done writing it.

I've read at a few poetry readings and also enter a number of competitions. Check my profile to learn of my recent frustrations about entering a competition the other night.

Classical poetry is a very masculine undertaking. Poetry became increasingly effeminate with the Victorians, and then discredited with the moderns. The 'older' your poetry is, the better.

    Don Quixote

His dogmas came ready made to hand,
Superfluous it was to make a stand,
When through a thousand thoughts he'd roam,
And on the sinking sun, remember home.

    Woefully the earth was deemed to move;
Was it a compensation to prove
That mind were some Archimedean lever,
    In vertiginous decentered fever.

And what if of late this plank be broke
Since the time such fantasists spoke,
With incoherence found from left to right,
    From enlightenment to deepest night.

In keeping with the geometric theme,
I’ll follow the circle and see what seems
More proportioned and just to my sense –
To peer again into woods more dense.

What's wrong in writing the poem openly. Is an art that you have. It has nothing to do with your manly nature.

    Manliness is subjective
Having big biceps, using cuss words is not manly according to me

I've written a couple poems to my girlfriend. 10/10, would highly recommend the experience.

    WHAT THE F-

    Dude...

What the hell does this mean? You decide for yourself, don't listen to people that tell you what is manly and what is not. In fact, don't even listen to people that tell you you have to be manly. Do whatever you like, it's not easy for fuck's sake.

And by the way, if being manly means repressing your artistic side and your natural search of beauty with 8000+ years of history, don't be manly at all. Art is one of the things that make us different from animals, in fact, it's probably it's the ONLY thing that does. Life without art is a mistake.

  17. what are you saying? i am a girl and male poets are normal. nothing odd in it. i love William Shakespeare, Charles Baudelaire, Jack Kerouac, John Keats, Lord Byron, pablo Neruda, percy shelley. most of them were womanizers. being blessed with artistic talent is amazing. nothing to be afraid to do. Go for it. I love writing too but novels :)
