I had a sudden urge to post this after re-reading through NoFap's Getting Started guide. It mentioned that even if you relapse, all of your progress is not erased. Your streak is gone, yes, but the progress you've made in your attempt to improve yourself is not. My longest streak is a measly 11 days, and I've been trying to quit since about mid May. Obviously I've relapsed plenty of times, sometimes with streaks as long as a week, sometimes after only two days.

Right now I'm on three, but I feel good. Not in the sense that I absolutely feel that this time I'll make it to 90+ days, or that I feel like a God, but in the sense that I feel good about myself. I feel hopeful about the future, I feel confident, and I feel strong. Certainly better than I felt two months ago.

I don't mean for this to sound like a success story, because it's not. I haven't been in this long enough, and I haven't experienced any miraculous effects I can attest to. What I can say, though, is that simply making an attempt to better myself has been well worth the effort, and I'm sure I will continue to keep reaping benefits so long as I keep trying. Hope this inspires someone.

  2. Hope is important! It's important to believe that you will make it through. People don't succeed in this because they just get lucky. It's a lot of hard work, blood, sweat and tears.

But the reason why they are able to go through all that hell is because they have set their mind firmly with determination that THIS WILL HAPPEN. I'm glad you have that hope in you :)

Remember... feelings pass - it's what they do! But a decision is a decision, and a commitment is strong when it is believed to be strong.
