Hey man. Don't make the mistake thinking you lost all your effects. Habits are neural patterns physically created in your brain and stay as strong as those patterns are. Patterns becomes stronger as they are followed. You haven't stimulated your old bad pattern for the duration of your streak, instead you created a new, better pattern (= not PMO for longer).
The result of your effort is that that one pattern is there now (or if it already was, it just became a bit stronger). But it is obviously still weaker than the one existing. By repeating good streaks you'll train better patterns and your old ones will lose strength. By not continuing the efforts, you'll lose the strength you've just added.
