I’m finished flirting with this idea of sobriety. Either I give it up and masturbate without guilt, or I embrace the more difficult path. Today I have decided that my future matters. Who I am and what I do matters. Today I create the manifesto of my recovery.

THE RULES OF THE REBOOT!

I will not visit image sharing websites such as tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram, deviantart, imgur or any webcomics. I will not view books containing artwork of bodies or the anatomy of the human body. I will not view movies containing nudity or sex. I will not touch myself for purposes of pleasure. I will not read content with sexual themes or imagery. I will not browse the internet inside my room. I will not fantasize intentionally about women.

I will add to these rules as I further meditate on my personal triggers.

The mind is often confusing and inconsistent, so it is important to remember why we have begun this journey. These are my motivators for my recovery:

I remember feeling a certain joy of life as a child. I feel that porn was a great influence in eroding that feeling. Perhaps someday it will return.

Porn is a terrible distraction from the work, even hobbies that are important to me. I must develop my practical talents rather than my skill for discovering new porn.

Porn makes me a weaker man. Since I do not enjoy the idea of porn dependence, and would rather not be a person who uses it, this must be a matter of personal weakness. This wouldn’t be an issue if I was stronger and smarter with my actions.

Porn certainly doesn’t benefit relationships. I don’t know what to expect in my future, but I will not ruin it with using porn.
