I believe that too. I had a crush on this girl in high-school, it was so intense that my interest in P vanished. Seeing her every morning in class was enough to brighten my day.
My feelings for her faded overtime (as all unreciprocated feelings do) and back to old habits i went.

which is to say, external factors do help us in this journey. But "internal" factors are more reliable to having a change that lasts :D
