Strangely ... no. It stems from the fact that I am a very visual person (I guess no one is surprised to here that, this is a forum for porn addicts!) I know that if I watched a screen version I would no longer be able to remember my own version of how the characters looked, and I do not want to lose that. I didn't watch the Lord of the Rings films for the same reason.
It's OK if I saw the film before reading the book (Never Let Me Go is another favourite book, but I saw the film first) Please report back. I did allow myself the stage version, which was shockingly terrible.
Wasn't sure about the first episode but it seems to get better as it goes along. I like the actor who plays Roger. I think it must be the first time he's acted on screen.
Interesting that Philip Pullman said the TV series should be better because with TV you have more room to be more faithful to the book. But he also said that he wasn't involved in it that much and didn't want to be since it's something separate from the book.
