        Honestly the best advice I can think of is keeping in mind the joy that comes from following Christ. Think about all of the pain that he didn't have to experience due to addictions or jealousy. The plan of happiness isn't just for our exaltation, but is rather to help us find the greatest joy in this life. Focus on the happiness of freedom contrasted to the sorrow of addiction, and that is motivating for me anyway.
