I think it was Gary Wilson that shared the story of the insects that would look for females with the "biggest" body to reproduce with, but then would find beer-bottles with a visually similar design to those females, but orders of magnatude larger. They would litterally be so hypersexed by those bottles that they would try to fuck them until they would die.

That's what we've been walking in, but instead of a physical stimulant that has our sexual focus, it's literally 1s and 0s. We're taking systems that were designed to help us make love and make families and make humanity better, and instead we've got addicted to reproducing with our phones.

It obviously doesn't feel like that when we're doing it. We're too enthralled at what we've found to realize that it's not actually a real person we're making love to, but instead we're just slightly more advanced versions of those bugs, so excited that we found a bottle to reproduce with...

It's sad, sick, and very illogical... but that's hard to see that until you're looking back in from the outside.
