“Flatlines” don’t exist, Post Acute Withdrawal Symptoms do!

Thought I’d make this post because there’s too many “relapsed on day 1 again :(“ posts on here and not enough information which is important for people who are dedicated to beating their addiction on high streaks.

Flatline is a made up word and I don’t know why we’ve believed into using it. Let me explain, after two weeks of quitting PMO the initial withdrawal effects diminish. After this we feel energetic, less brain fog, we get these superpowers.

Somewhere down the line these superpowers briefly disappear and we get depressed, anxiety, no motivation, trouble sleeping. These are called PAWS and they are very real! You will also get PAWS if you quit an alcohol, heroin, cocaine addiction after the initial withdrawals are over.

Most people who quit addictions cold turkey experience PAWS or what we have been calling “flatlines” for 6 MONTHS to 2 YEARS. You will be fine one day and then next you’ll feel like absolute shit, it’s really hard but you’ve just got to hang in there. This should usually last about a week or two weeks and then you’ll be feeling good again. And then out of nowhere you’ll get withdrawal symptoms again! Like I said, if you have a serious porn addiction like me (I’ve been fapping 10+ years) this will happen to you for up to 2 years!

The whole 90 day thing we’ve been fed into is rubbish, this is a very hard, bumpy road, if you are actually an addict expect to be battling this for the next 2 YEARS, (the PAWS get less and less as time goes on and eventually you’re okay) thought I’d share this because people need to know what they’re getting into. Please research PAWS.

To me, flatline and withdrawal symptoms are different.

Flatline I see as the period of no libido, dead dick, zero arousal etc. Withdrawal symptoms are what they say - anxiety, depression, insomnia, irritability and so on. When the withdrawals subsided I still had the flatline, that didn't go until much later so for me the two shouldn't be conflated.

Same thing, since they both happen after you quit something.

I think "PAWS" can be alleviated from having actual sex. The 90 days is a benchmark to when your addiction should be seized. For some its 30 days, for others its 1 year. But 90 days is a rough estimate of when the majority of people should be free of PMO.

I've have been having zero to low libido and low arousal for more than 2 years. Basically, I have been getting hard when fantasizing but not when seeing a girl naked for more than 2 years.

Maybe you are right, flatlines could be a withdrawal syndrome

It's not a "porn addiction" though, it's a masturbation addiction aka sex addiction.

Not only that, the whole "porn addiction" thing is rubbish, as you can actually experience PAWS while watching porn (without fapping to it obviously).
