Hey guys. Hope you all are well, thought I'd share my story and some of the issues I have encountered and still am.

I quit porn last year, I think mid-/end-June or early July. I had wanted to quit for years, due to religious convictions, but I never did, because it just felt good and desires were at an all time high.

Why I end up quitting: I used to watch porn that was based around my culture, because it was relatable (sounds disgusting even typing it tbh). One day they made a video explicitly insulting my religion as well. I felt so disgusted, right around that time I made a firm intention to quit porn.

The process: In the beginning you are fine. At times you just get aroused randomly or just feel like watching/browsing porn for the sake of it, not even to masturbate - I did not give in though. But I kept pushing myself: if I got thus far, I can go further.

Breaking point 11 weeks in: I started chatting with a few girls, we spoke on the phone, phone convos took a sexual turn and you know... hard to control yourself. This happened a few times after those 11 weeks. Until I decided mid-November to stop chatting to these girls and stop having these convos with them.

Now: Well I haven't masturbated since then, so that's almost 6 months now I believe. Not been easy, but I just feel like I would let myself down, besides, it is a sin. Also, I don't want to be an addict (besides a gym addict lol).

Current issues/Why I put a ''?'' in the title: Even though I haven't watched any ''traditional'' porn, I do find myself in slippery slopes and I have a hard time dealing with that. For example: I do occasionally ''accidentally'' stumble upon nudes of women when googling things. Or on purpose I might watch a movie that has sex scenes in it, or just solely the sex scenes to be honest. It still feels wrong, but it doesn't exactly feel like watching porn - that is what I tell myself anyway. I try my best to stop straight after watching that. This only happens once every while, not on a daily basis.

So to conclude: have I truly been porn-free for almost a year? Traditional porn, yes. All the other things that are like a grade below (TV/Movie sex scenes), no.

I am looking to get married soon, having an actual relationship and intimacy removes the needs for these things (speaking from past experience).

I would like y'all thoughts on this whole TV sex scene issue. Does this constitute as porn?

Hi! First of all, I would like to congratulate you for not watching p for a year! It’s not easy to quit something that played a part in your past life. I’m still new here but I just want to say that even if it may seem for you that you’re not completely p-free, I believe that what you’ve achieved has been a long way compared to who you were back then.

And if i were to answer your question, i think it would be considered p if you are treating it the same way as you have treated traditional p. It all depends on how you use these movies and apply them on your life. Due to our addiction, we have formed a relationship with p that we can’t easily leave behind. Maybe you’re trying to fill the void that porn has put in your life or maybe it’s just out of curiosity. Either way, i think you should consider if watching these things puts you in the same position that you were back then. If you feel like it’s damaging you (by triggering you), i think that would be your cue. But you know, you’ve already gone a long way. I’m sure you’ll figure this one out :)

First of all thank you for your reply! I appreciate comments and discussions, that way we learn and grow!

You raise an interesting point, to that I say: I don't think it affects/triggers me in the same way as actual porn did (not the same dopamine effect I reckon). That is because I know that it is fake sex (besides their being nude), so it doesn't seem as satisfying.

Having said that, I still (will) make an effort to abstain from watching it, unless it pops up in actual series that I watch, which is mere chance and not a premeditated search. The weak moments sadly get the better of us.

Sidenote: I recommend ******** btw, it is free and you can even keywords to the blocklist, amazing. It made my porn-free experience on the internet a lot easier.

You’re very much welcome. During this process, it is really nice to share ideas from different types of people. I get you when you said ‘the weak moments sadly get the better of us’. I’ve been struggling to fight that as as well. I hope when we are faced with a decision between relapsing or fighting it, may we always find the strength to choose the latter.

Btw, thank you for the tip! This will surely help me since p is literally just one click away.

Very welcome. I saw another app but you had to pay for it, I might consider it in future as that app also was able to extend to Youtube. Youtube's Strict Mode even blocks normal interviews I watch :emoji_confounded:. Slowly starting to hate the internet.

But all will be fine once these Corona restrictions lift and I can go to work and be around friends. The desires tend to strike when you are bored/free. An idle mind is the devil's playground after all...

Thanks man, tbh I don't feel like I have done a great thing, rather that I am doing what I was meant to do. Now I feel normal and not like a hypocrite, so that is nice!

Nvm my previous post, I understand now.

To answer your question: no. Just unpleasing orgasms back when I used to fap too much.

    Thanks a lot man.

Just to know one thing, as you mentioned there are scenes from tv series and movies that you still watch after leaving P; could you please tell more about it? Like how do you control urself after watching them? And what to do with urges around that moment, what to do with the precum?

This is my first try and so far, I had only faced difficulties when I come across those scenes. Waiting for your reply mate

To be honest bro those scenes are a guilty pleasure, but you tell yourself it is not that bad because it is not really porn.

If it genuinely occurs in a series/movie I allow it and just watch it. But when I slip up by looking up those scenes I try to snap out of it by telling myself I am dangerously close to throwing away my streak.

Just the other day I was on some girl's twitter and you go from 1 account to the other by clicking their pics... ended up on a pornstar's page, but when I realized that I clicked away right before pressing play on 1 of her tweeted vids (which I didn't suspect to be porn).

Keep the goal in mind: breaking free from this addiction. It will be in steps. I still lure pretty women on google images or youtube every now and then. Also download ******** and add in all keywords so those sites and images are blocked (e.g. hot, nude etc).

I use to this as well, a lot. What helped was paying attention to my thought while on twitter, if clicked on a girls profile and started to look at pics of her my thoughts where something like this "just one pic of her naked, then i will be satisfied and leave". When i had this thought i would leave immediately or log off and not come till the next day.

Sorry, I meant to return to this website but I hardly ever do.

To be honest it's, like someone else above just said, a guilty pleasure. I don't actually want to masturbate anymore as much as I just want to WATCH the porn. Sounds pretty sick, saying it out loud, but I guess that is what life has come to...

In short: even IF I get precum, I try to snap out of it. End up snapping myself out of it by remembering that it's forbidden (from a religious POV) and that what I'm doing is a sin. Usually will recite a litany and close the tab.

  18. Now, this is a reason to quit porn. Shame on the porn industry.
