  1. This ultra marathon is the business... loving it! Not going to lie tho, its been a mental slog, tons of brain fog... But i have no one to blame on that front apart from myself haha!

I know the benefits will come... hope you all had a smashing run as well. See you tmrw Day 5!

I had this idea. I don't know if it's ever been done before. A 1000-day challenge. Although, if you can do that, you basically have no reason to be here. Maybe it can be a final challenge sort of thing.

If both of us complete the 100 day run, you open your suggested challenge and I'll join!

  4. I agree that the metronome is a bit of a cheat, although it helped me make some big strides in my early days of meditating that I probably wouldn't have gotten otherwise. Sitting in silence may be the best way to go but the main reason I suggested it here is because netsurfer was having trouble starting because of the commotion at home. I think that the metronome is a good dual-purposed tool that will help drown out the external noise for some people. For some reason my main hurdle with meditating nowadays is to convince myself that I can afford even 5-10 minutes to just sit and do nothing. Of course, deep down I know it's more than worth it. This resistance is just the mind fighting back against doing anything that will change it's current default mode.

I completely agree. For a long time I refused to get mobile data on my phone and would hit local cafes and restaurants instead and use their wifi connection for all my internet needs, which were relatively few. That was pre-corona of course. Now I have internet at home; but I feel that period really paid off in that it gave me more self control and a better ability to fight off urges than I used to have. That said, I have relapsed several times. And, well, that's why I'm here!

Day 4 of this challenge! Only 96 days to go!
I feel much more confident in this very moment that I and everyone else here will succeed.

Never stop trying, always go on, and good luck to all!
    Max.

    Sounds good!

  9. Day 4 coming to a close for me. Really busy again today which is always helpful for recovery. Ate a bunch of junk food though which I'm not happy about. It was just around so I did it. Need to get more disciplined about this from now on. Anyway, 4 days came and went pretty quickly! See ya all tomorrow for day 5. Stay Strong!

Day 4 successful. Didn't sleep a minute between days 4 and 5. Hopefully that doesn't impact my will-power today. I've noticed that I don't make a wrong decision (e.g. to binge on youtube vids or something) directly. Rather, I push it out of my mind.

  11. You need to proof, to confince yourself, that you are a human, who can do Nofap.

Scientifically speaking, these next couple of weeks are when we are most susceptible to triggers (assuming your streak started on/near the 15th). CREB is a protein builds up around the neurons responsible for making us crave porn and weakens the signal through them. In theory this is to prevent overstimulation or overconsumption, and while it isn't enough to stop porn cravings because porn is such a hyperstimulus, it does slightly decrease their intensity. Around now is generally when that protein tends to dissipate, meaning the cravings become more intense. Eventually the connections that make us crave porn grow weaker, and cravings grow weaker with them, but that won't happen for a few weeks yet.

But that doesn't mean we're going to give in! It just means we have to be more vigilant and careful for the next little while. If you were planning a social media detox or something similar, now is the time it will have maximum effect on your chances of success :D

  13. Day 5 - as documented my last few days have been super difficult especially mentally - mental fog I believe is the term.
Today I woke feeling disorientated - however the last hour or so I have manage to pick quite a bit of workload which is serving me much better. Not quite 100%, more like 20% but hopefully will see subtle improvements along the way.

Anyhow, this race has just started - 95 days to go!

  14. I read 3 books per week, it's just a part of my identity. Im a book lover. I run everyday. Im a runner. I link exercirsing and reading books with being hard-working, I link hard-working human, with human that doesn't do PMO.

  15. I completely agree on the social detox side of things- social media is such a passive tool, it easily ingrains itself into our minds in any given moment, the last couple of times I broke my streak was quite simply down to lack of social media control - including reddit.

I just hope this journey gets easier along the way the last few days have been complete hell for me!

  16. Hang in there. It will get easier. The urges may seem impossible to resist but as you resist, you become stronger and the urges weaken. It takes a few weeks unfortunately. But there will come a point where it will become effortless because you’ve put in the hard work to become stronger. Many people here on NoFap struggle to get to that point but it is out there. We just usually relapse before we can get to that point. I’ve experienced it getting easier and others who have had longer streaks can verify this as well.
Keep up the good work! It’s hard right now but you are gaining strength as you struggle.

  17. Staying busy and productive is a great way to keep those bad thoughts and urges at bay. Good job!

  18. Going onto day 5. Having some withdrawals with mood swings and some urges at times. One day at a time, I won't be dropping out.

  19. Good work! Hang in here with us. You will get past those urges this time and you’ll stay with us. Come here often and check-in. Let us know how you’re doing. You’ve got this.

  20. At some point Nofap will hopefully become habit and that will prob take 2 years so 1000 days is little too much.
