111 Days! Connection is another key to recovery! Lets look at a brilliantly defined by Brene Brown: "Energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued: when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship." We have to make efforts to connect. When we connect with others it will foster more connection. In other words, connection gives birth to more connection. Jonathan Hari, "The opposite of addiction is not sobriety, it is connection." If we want to heal, we must connect with people. It is essential to thrive emotionally, physically, spiritually, and intellectually. Connection that I am referring to is not a superficial Facebook/pintrest/instagram type connection. I am referring to hardcore face to face human interaction. Even connection here is not the ideal substitute for real human connection. It is in our DNA. It is the best anti-depressant. Brene Brown said, "One of the greatest barriers to connection is the cultural importance we place on "going it alone." Somehow we've come to equate success with not needing anyone." No matter how smart, how strong, how beautiful we think we are, we all are in desperate need for help and connection. May we strive to improve our connections starting today. Let us do it now, before it is too late. Stay strong! Win!
