Hey guys,
This year I finished around 120 days of NoFap Hardmode (I stopped counting after I passed the 90 days). I felt great and then I made the decision to stop.
Why?
I was pretty damn sure, that my hair loss increased. Since around 2 years I am suffering slow, but steady hair loss. My hair on the right corner is constantly receding and overall I loose a lot of hair during the day.
I also suffer from dandruff, maybe since 4 years. Around the 90 days mark of NoFap, I suddenly experienced a dramatic decrease in dandruff. It was nearly gone. I first and probably mistakenly assumed that this was due to the coconut oil, which I started to apply on my scalp a week before the dandruff was gone. Anyways, I was really happy to finally solve the problem.
About 3 weeks pass. One day I look in the mirror and suddenly see that my hair on my left corner is also receding! And in a much faster tempo than in my right corner! It nearly already looked equally bad! So the following days/weeks I paid close attention to my hair and regularly gently pulled a bunch of hair to see how many will get loose. Always 3-5, especially on my left corner.
I researched a bit, found a few, but not a lot of other NoFappers, who experienced the same problem and made the decision to stop and start fapping again. Fap NP once a week for a month. This month just ended.
Now, interestingly, nearly directly after my first time fapping, dandruff came back. It took maybe 2-3 days. So it was definitely not the magic of the coconut oil. By now it's as bad as before. BUT: I also have the feeling that my hair loss speed is back to normal again. Hair loss is always hard to judge, but when I do the pull test now, I only end up with 1-2 hairs in my hand. When I do it on my left corner 0-1. I also see new, short hair on my left corner. I can not 100% sure if they were there before (during NF) but I guess not.
So right now, I'm in quite some dilemma. Dandruff and itchy scalp or increased hair loss? My choice. Since I am still in my early-mid 20s I am right now choosing the first one.
This month I am trying to reduce the fapping to once every 2 weeks, or twice per month. Let's see if that has an effect on dandruff (or hairloss). I doubt it because even 70 days of NF had no effect on my dandruff. It only changed after I hit the 90 days mark.
Anybody in here who experienced similar stuff? I find it very interesting that NoFap stopped my dandruff. Why could this be? I am sure I can use that knowledge somehow to get rid of the problem.
Cheers!
