For me it's important to keep in mind that I AM anaddict and always will be an addict. If I ever forget that then I'm in trouble. The difference and the good news is that today I'm a recovering addict. Once an addict always an addict.
I have been in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction for over 25 years. If I drink or drug again ,forgetting that I'm an addict, in no time I'll be in worse shape than ever. Addiction is progressive and permanent. Once an addict always an addict . This is a fact and I don't think it will change. I respect your view on not defining yourself by the past and I agree with it. None the less I am and will always be an addict. For me thats not good or bad ,it's just a fact. Thanks for the reply.
