Hi guys, I'm in need of an AP mostly to kick my porn addiction.

A bit about me: I started my addiction when I was about 9 when I searched something I shouldn't have simply because I was curious. I never expected it would turn into this. Last November, I told my girlfriend about it expecting that she'd help me. She did for a little while, then dumped me in December. Through Sept and Nov I was on a clean streak, but after that was over, I dropped right back down to watching and masterburating almost every day.

I mostly just need someone I can talk to. Agedoesn't matter to me, but must be a strong Christian. I believe strongly in the power of God to help me and everyone else out of this.

I appreciate anyone considering to be my AP. Thank you,
    Dan

    Hey Dan,

Do you still need an accoutability partner?
I'd love to be able to help you out! Just private message or reply back to this post if you're still up for it.

By the way, Im so sorry about what happened to your girlfriend. That's just tragic. I guess she doesn't understand how hard fighting a porn addiction is for guys. I've never had a girlfriend but I can relate. When my mom found out I watched porn, she completely flipped the heck out. Just screaming at how I was never going to be successful in life and how I dared go to church and call myself Christian. I thought she would understand but instead she made me feel so guilty to the point of suicide.

Oh by the way, my name's Yibo. I'm a 17 years-old Christian guy about to graduate highschool.
I started looking at nude images in 6th grade after googling around and just being curious like you. But have only been addicted to porn videos since 9th grade.

I've really been serious about praying to God these past few months after failing over and over to quit porn for the past 4 years. Highschool has been a depressing and quite stressful and I've used PMO to escape the pain and boredom in life.

I've been trying to read the Bible and pray every morning and night for the past 3 weeks - although I forget to do it a lot of the days. The habit is quite hard to form. So seriously congrats on going through 2 months without fapping! Wow, the longest I've ever gone was about 7 days.

We can contact through emails daily or with Skype/Google hangouts each week. Whatever you prefer.

But Dan, if you already found an accpuntability partner it's totally fine. No need to reply back.

Best wishes on your jouney through Nofap and living a Christian life!

    Yours,
    -Yibo

Hey Dan. I thought that was a brave and a mature thing to do, telling your girlfriend abut your struggles with this addiction. In a way, her response is not the important thing because, mostly it speaks to the sort of person you are. We hide our masturbation and porn away, so it is courageous to open up because we know we need help. Remember, from God's point of view, he appreciates and blesses honesty and sincerity. Your wish to do things his way will be a major motivation in your recovery journey.

Hi Yibo. What I said to Dan applies to you, too. In addition, there are some practical things that will help you make your bible reading more meaningful. For example, reading the passage with your voice (this can be fairly quiet). But endeavour to read with meaning - as of you were reading it out in class or something. This slows down the input of information to your brain and focuses your mind on the content rather than just the words. Let me know if you notice any difference (if you decide to give it a shot).

If either of you wish to have an accountability partner that also loves God and is fighting hard to get free from this addiction, I would be happy to help out. God's blessings.

    Hey IGY,

Thanks for the quick reply. It's definitely hard to be honest and admit to porn addiction to anyone. Porn addiction is seen as taboo by society and guys feel uncomfortable revealing the emotional and weak sides of ourselves. It's even worse to get ostracized by a mom or girlfriend for just wanting to fulfill our natural sexual needs.

There's a saying that what we say about other people just shows more about our own character than about the person we are judging.

But thanks so much for offering to hold us accountable! Ill definitely start reading the Bible through my voice these upcoming week and let you know how it's working for me.

But seriously IGY, I'm so grateful that people like you exist online. Its relieving to know that I'm not a just a horny pervy teen and that there are guys like you who actually want to help me and Dan. God bless you too brother!

Hey, Yibo. Thanks for the reply!

I do already have a great AP, but I'm always open to have nore or even have a group going. I'm also willing to help you out if you are in need of someone. Our stories sound very alike and I think we would definitely benefit from each others support, also because we are so close in age.
Let me know what you think of this!

Is there a google+ group or anything I could possibly join with you guys? Maybe a voice chat server? Would be awesome, since we're so close in age. I'm seventeen (born in '98). I could link my story on becoming addicted to porn. It's my first thread here on NoFap actually.

Right now there is no group, we've just been connecting via email or text. That's a good idea to start one, though. I'll look into it.

    Dear Yibo,

Yes, it is hard to admit things e.g. sexual things, but especially when we have been masturbating to porn.

But what has helped you on your journey so far is your enduring and endearing humility. This is a beautiful Christian quality. In the original Greek language the New Testament was written in, the word for humility basically means: to make low the mind. That definition describes you perfectly - you are not high minded or superior. You also have your humility finely balanced with conviction and appropriate assertiveness. You have already done much good as a valued member of the NoFap family here. :)

If you haven't got around to it, that's fine, but I would like to know if reading the bible out loud made any difference to your concentration and comprehension. Thank you.

God's blessings be with you my brother,

    Simon
