Its been 18 days since my last relapse and things aren't going so well for me. I am not whining about anything its just that I expected some changes in my personality, clear brain and speech, less anxiety, confidence, more aggressiveness and less softness (irritates me like hell), energy, masculinity and more importantly a quick working brain. Since I last relapsed, I am feeling more soft hearted with every passing day making people respect me less, memory is still the same no difference, lack of masculinity, low confidence with even some girls noticing me (I can't even notice them back), no witty humor, less energetic and no sharp brain. I think the effects only show up within a week and after that it disappears completely.
Honestly do the guys exaggerate their success stories or do they really mean it? I wanted a new me and it seems like its a foregone conclusion. I know what the replies will be like its been only 18 days and you have to complete 90 days. But most of the people claim that they see changes in them within 14 days!
I need some guidance and assurance that should I continue or not, wasting sperm in front of a pixel will do nothing for me but if I am not being happy with my current life and at least I have got those few seconds of pleasure (I hate myself for writing this but I explained the reasons)

  2. it gets better bro, you need to think about the big picture. You'll be seeing great benefits even after a month in most cases.

    APAS,

Can't tell how long you've been at this or which relapse this is for you. You know that everyone is different and no two of us are going to see the same results in the same time frame. I do know they say that younger people who have used hi speed Internet from the start of the PMOing will have a longer recovery time. Those neuro pathways have grown faster.

So, don't have expectations for yourself. Expectation in anything result in disappointments. Go with the program, stay focused and the results will begin to show themselves when they show themselves.

This is my first go round and I'm about 6 days into it. I was hoping to be one of those miracle stories, LOL, but I know better than to think I'll be the exception. Like you, I'm sticking with the program.

    @Anti-Porn Army Soldier

You're finding yourself in a position that I've seen many others in on their journey - when the expectation they had going into NoFap doesn't measure up against the difficulty of breaking the addiction.

You'll often see people talking about the power of giving up PMO - how it makes them more masculine, or confident, or a whole host of other benefits that you've described. But the most important reason you need to have for giving up PMO, is that you want to give up PMO.

There are benefits from giving up PMO - just like giving up any addiction. But it's not a magical power; It's a side effect of bettering yourself holistically. You create a 'new you' by improving all areas of your life, which is so important if you want to kick the PMO habit.

18 days is a good start, but t is just the start. 90 days is also just a start. I've realised, being PMO free for over a year, that you sign up for life. The initial '90 days' is just to get over the addiction - making the change stick is what it's really all about. It's hard, but worth it.

I have every confidence in you APAS. You're in the right place.

I think that we're talking about something which is different for everyone. Just like going to the gym. You can gain mass faster than your friend, you can get ripped slower than the other guy in the gym. Just be patient, results will come. Think about it: what if by tomorrow you'll suddenly feel better than ever? Relapse is not worth it. Come on man, we're all with you! :)

Amen to this. Day 18 for me/higher power. Have a new perspective but shame binds me up at times when alone and I can't stand what I have done. I am in flatline so no real temptations and I feel surrendered. I appreciate you all. I need your help. Keep strong with me. Don't give up on this and I wont either. :)

I want to thank everyone for their support but I hate to admit that I relapsed a few days earlier and I realized the key thing that most of you guys have stated here "have patience". I expected some magical result due to NoFap and I was so wrong. I was also wrong on depending upon the blockers, I have removed a few categories (the torrent sites) in them so I can control myself not let the blockers control me.
I am glad that I made it to 18 days which was an improvement itself, this time I will stop PMO not in expectations of so-called superpowers or whatever but with the intention that I have to remove this habit no matter what happens. I will also save this page as a reminder that if I have thoughts about quitting it, I will look to these comments here (In case you are wondering, I am reading these comments now as I was really busy the last couple of days)

Keep focused on the process, not the outcome. Results may come or not, but still you are changing something you don't like, that's progress.

I can barely feel my balls but I am day 20 and chicks keep looking at me and I am out of shape and homicidal fantasy is rampant during reboot for me. :) At least I have an answer for my fuckupedness and I am not harming myself anymore.

Hey mate, I have gone through Dante's Inferno the last 59 days. I was ready to give up on life for a period of time. Rebooting cannot be under estimated. For some of us, it is not a walk in the park, it is the hardest thing we have ever set ourselves the aim of achieving.

I'm not going to give you any advice, but if you have time to spare, have a read of my journal. You may find it insightful.

All the best of luck to you on your journey.
