    Hi People

I am writing this as I hold my head in shame.

I have been addicted to Porn for 20 years and have only been able to stop if I put a content blocker on my phone. I recently removed the blocker because I want to know I could quit on my own but I watch porn straight away. I understand the biological reason for watching porn Coolidge effect, dopamine etc but I feel so out of control and this is not the man I want to be.

I am a father now and have a 8 month year old daughter and I want to be the best version of my self for her.

Can any of you offer me some
Advice on what worked for you and is it normal to battle with this as hard as I am?

    Thanks Charlie

    Hi Charlie,
Really feeling sorry for you. You will a great father definitely, because your intentions are good. Abandoning internet porn is the biggest challenge here, without P there is no More without M there is no urge to Orgasm.

As you are a father you will be working by now. Keep complete concentration on your job, get busy in whatsoever work. Whenever you feel there is no work, do something. First 21 days are the hardest... From that you can experience benefits of No PMO. Literally it increases confidence level.
    All the best bro.

Can’t be that bad if I’m honest.

You managed to attract a mate and impregnate her.

Many addicts would not find women, save the play boy models or whoever, enough to get wood.

It seemed your blocker was working. I’d put it back up.

    Otherwise get a dumb phone

@Charlieg83 I am also the same age and proud father of 1 years old . Also same I am around 20 years of porn addiction which I got in early childhood and from there it has been gone intense and taken toll on many relationship s which I could have had in better way . You can anytime buddy msg me and my advice will be to you be like think of you what you want to be like you want to be PM free . Now always remember what was our life when we were in addiction , actually we are just dead body when we are in porn addiction because we loseo to emotionless thing . Better stay with child ,see smiles of people around you ,and constantly bring quality of thoughts about yourself .

The farther you go, the less cravings you get. But it only takes 1 mess up and you're back on to it. One solution could be to have a blocker to get so far into your recovery, and then slowly condition yourself to be able to have the opportunity but have no inclination to act on it. Not when you are first quitting, but later on, you will have to have some chance at using it, but you MUST resist. (This reality may be in the far future, so you may not have to focus on it right now.)
You could try and slowly give yourself some more liberty, but watch out, so that it is NOT enough that you will relapse. Every addict will have some chance at some point where they may risk relapse, after they have quit. For the meanwhile, just do what you can to avoid PMO, get some new healthy habits (e.g. exercise, meditation, etc.), and you can worry about "adding more liberty" or "practice resisting the urge" later. But still, at some point, definitely, after this stage of your recovery, it is not a bad idea to try an add this liberty.
Just remember, when adding this liberty, it is NOT setting yourself up to relapse. It is meditating on resisting PMO. Even before you are at the stage where you could benefit from this, it is always a good idea to meditate on resisting and visualizing yourself saying "no"(just leave out an opportunity to relapse, and you can start this technique before you are far enough through your recover that you can throw in an opportunity).

Also, watch out for normal sexual attraction, as this can lead to a relapse. For the above, I am just talking about accounting for "addiction cravings".

    Hi there!

Welcome to the forums and our sad reality. If you are really interested in cutting that crap out of your life, you will realize that it is more than just cutting out the porn. Porn is a symptom of something else. You need to do some introspection, get to the root of your addiction; when did it start? What's keeping you there? How is your life in general? How is your relationship with your wife? Does she know?

It will be a hard journey, but you are at the right place for some help.

Why not start a journal here in the right section so the community can better understand where you are coming from and give you some better advices and encouragement?

You are definitely on the right path, as always to first step to recovery is recognizing you have a problem. You need to work from within yourself instead of external mecanisms to fight this. Those blockers and other tech stuff can help, but, we are smart... We'll always find ways to work around them when we want what we want.

There is one thing I can always give people for an advice.

Keep fighting a relapse is no failure but giving up to become better is. If you got a bad day keep pushing. If you relapsed keep pushing if you feel tired, screw your feeling and keep pushing. You must go the hard way because the easy way wont work.

I hope you won't forget to check people's thoughts, as it's been a few days.
But I just noticed something. An 8 month year old daughter? [IMG] Is she a year and 8 months or just 8 months? [IMG] Not that it matters much... you should indeed not be drawn away by addiction when you ought to be caring for her! [IMG] I was going to add a little, but I forgot what. [IMG] [IMG]

Keep it up man! Keep the content blocker on your phone, it will only remove unnecessary urges. Dont be ashamed of having one or whatever, what counts is that you dont watch P, and that you dont MO (if you wanna quit that too, which I recommend). Nofap is like a cure for life. Let me explain myself for that. Being addicted, we feel like shit. P makes us have low self esteem and have brain fog, hate ourself, be beta, anxious, depressed, miserable (yet we still do it, because we're addicted). Once you stop PMO for a while (after about 1 month or a few weeks), we start getting out of that mental state (we are still addicted, but not under the negative effects of it in a daily basis), and those symptoms go away: we feel incredibly good. We are proud, happy, we love life and other people. We become more intelligent and energetic, its like we just get a 30% boost in everything in our lives. This keeps going, until two options come up:

Option 1: you relapse, and go back to 0 or close to 0, and feel like shit again, you have all the bad symptoms i listed up there, and many others I didn't mention.

Option 2: you dont relapse, and quit fapping, forever. You feel amazing, and proud, you have all the great symptoms i listed up there, and many others I didn't mention.
You live the life of your dreams.

So make your choice. Which option do you prefer?
