So yeah I guess I'm the clasic newbie and that's why I'll start with the classic introduction.

I'm a 20 year old guy who has used porn since age 11-12 and recently I decided to join NoFap. This is my first post ever but I started doing NoFap in December of last year with not much success. Didn't realise I had such a big problem with PMO until I tried quitting it ("Those who do not move, do not notice their chains" - Rosa Luxemburg), but it's not all bad, I've realised many things about myself, found a lot of my triggers and when I usually turn to porn. So to the people like myself who aren't satisfied with their streaks, just think about all the things you've learned about yourself so far and keep going. Nothing bad can come out of it.

My first interaction with NoFap was on 4chan during a PMO session, decided to look into it and see what's it all about and I'm glad I did. The reason and the motivation of quitting PMO for me is remembering the time where I haven't looked at porn or masturbated for almost 2 months (this happened on accident, didn't actively try to do this). At the time I didn't know of NoFap and the destructive side-effects of porn. All I remember from that period was feeling great, motivated, wanting to hang out with friends more, play sports, read books (really strange thing for me, never was a book guy) etc.

All my life I try to understand something first and then fix it. This is a bad approach to life and especially NoFap. I've come to realise you just need to get into it and learn from experience. Right now I'm at a point where I know my triggers and what to avoid, but as we all know NoFap is not just about quitting PMO, it's about living a better life and I'm ready to do so. Hopefully keeping my life occupied (like I did during those 2 months of no PMO) will help me get a better streak and help me get that feeling of genuine happiness.

And uhh yeah, I don't really know where I'm going with this so I don't want to drag it out and make it too long. Feel free to hit me up and stay strong.

  2. Welcome! You are on the right path. You know a lot of what you need to do. I wish I'd had a place like this at age 20!

  4. Hey @Buyich ,

Welcome to NoFap. Reading other peoples journals is a big part of my program and one of the ways I "work it".

I just read the greatest journal entry. I don't offer opinions or advice, only ESH (Experience, Strength and Hope).

I wish I could write the way he does. To me it felt like he opened up his chest and let us see not only into his heart but deeper into his soul. It takes a few minutes to read the first two posts - but, I'm so glad that I did.

    The journal is at https://www.nofap.com/forum/index.php?threads/155372

It was written by @weddingnails .

Keep coming back it works if you work it,
