Hello everyone :)
I hope you all doing good!

With this post I want to share some of my experiences and strategies to fight Porn addiction.

First of all I failed a lot! I'm a member of the NoFap community since August 2018 and I have failed countless of times. But at the same time I tried different ways and strategies. Some worked some not. Here a list of what I did :
  • Installed Spin browser (which blocks NSFW content)
  • Cold showers from time to time
  • Left Facebook and Instagram! The only Social media app I use is YouTube
  • Bought the book "Your Brain on Porn"
  • I told my best friend and my wife about my Porn addiction
I've been many times at day 30 but this time in particular is different then all the other ones. What I did differently:
  • I don't use the Spin browser anymore but I still recommend it though. I used it for many months.
  • Started intermittent fasting. IF helped me extremely and it still does. Absolutely no urges anymore! They almost completely vanished!
  • In addition I quit to eat sugar! I do not have cravings at all!
  • I joined some Challenges here on NoFap and I report on a daily basis. This helps big time and gives you kind of a structure and pattern.
I hope I could give you a better view and some insights :) Feel free to ask me any questions

Edit:
In case of relapse don't give it much of a thought! Be aware of what you did yes but then move on! You'll experience anyways some setbacks and failures! Failures are there to learn something out of it!

Congrats man, I'm curious could you tell us more about how you internet fast? Is this weekends or certain portion of each day?

I've recently been lucky enough to have 2-3 days without turning the PC on, only to go back because of study. Noticed it was like recharging my batteries. Less instant gratification, got more things done around the house etc.

Thank you for sharing. Congratulations on your first month. Keep going mate, good luck!
Thank you very much bro ! yeyeye Let's go! go go go!!

Very good advice! Thanks and congrats.
You are welcome :)

I think you misread my post hehe I'm doing intermittent fasting not internet fasting! It's an eating pattern in which you fast the most time and only eat in a certain time window.

Congratulations bro. U r jedi knight now.
Not yet cause I started the challenge later then my counter says :) I'm at day 24 there.

Oh yeah I did, funny how the brain sometimes reads what it likes haha. Sounds good man, I used to joke around when one mate did the food fasting for religious practice, order a big lunch and all.. but I have since heard it's great for the immune system also!

Yes it's really great! I'm doing a 20/4 type of intermittent fasting that means I fast everyday for 20h and in this 4h time period I eat breakfast and lunch. Plus I completely quit my sugar intake. I feel so great right now! No urges and no hunger feeling anymore!

That's interesting I'll have to look into it a bit more. Sometimes I can have a productive day but still feel that urge for a 'fix'. Always open to trying new things that could help, thanks!

What do you think lead to your recent relapse?
That's very good question and also an important one if you want to succeed!
I cannot deal very well with huge load of stress over certain period of time. Atm I'm working at a telecom company and going to a higher school at the same time.
The stress comes usually in waves! In school as at my work aswell!
Second issue is that my curiosity combined with lack of accountability/goals --> I start to struggle for example when nobody is at home or similar situation.
But I will be extra cautious for this situations.
Thank you for asking mate!

Congratulations @recon117
Thank you very much!

When you quit an addiction you need to replace it with a healthy addiction. Watching porn and beating your meat is how you dealt with stress.
Have you thought about finding a hobby to channel/deal with your stress?
