At least you fear it and you know what to expect when it comes.

When alone and those thoughts arrive, disgard them and focus on something you enjoy.

I was talking with GottaBFree about Dopamine and how it plays a huge part in this.

Every time you see that hot woman in your mind or on the net you get that exciting feel good feeling that's Dopamine.

It's hard but try to control dopamine by switching it on and off.

I learned to use dopamine as a reward, so I will save it up and treat myself with it, I love to game online be it PC or PS4 so I use this to release Dopamine and it's working for me.

Don't get me wrong Gaming doesn't even come close to being with a woman or ejaculating but it's just what works for me until I am ready to leave PMO behind forever.

Hope some of that made sense.

    Cheers.

I committed to no PM Forever or a couple days. I can’t remember which. I’ll settle for 1/2 a day for now as I reset my counter again.

great posts and good to see you all.

Hey guys, checking in after the 2-week mark. This is the time where things get more difficult and my brain fights back with 'reasons' why it needs the dopamine fix.

I have also stopped drinking and plan to do so for the next 6 weeks. the hangover is a huge trigger to 'medicate' with PMO.

I will keep saying it - This is the man I want to be.

    Thanks artifact!

I actually got the alert for your message as I was working on my reply to your post on the travel thread, congratulating you for your achievement there. That is most likely the first time that reciprocal congratulations happened at the exact same time on NoFap haha.

Let's keep up the good work!

50 days today not easy ones, but I'm grateful for this group help to walk one day at a time.
Getting close to my last streak of 67.

Hope all of you're doing ok this days.
No PMO just for today, don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

    G.B.U all.

  11. Keep going strong man. I like the idea of thinking about it just for today. What we do in the present becomes what we did in the past.

    Hey gents,

I’m writing after thinking about this for some time. I write this because I feel that I owe you that much.

I need to take a break from Nofap. I find that I do not have the motivation to push through. Instead, I obsess about number of days I haven’t PMO’ed, check the rankings, and use this site as a substitute for social media. I need to switch gears and understand what’s going on. I feel like I am missing something.

I am very grateful to this group. Because of you, I managed 8 months without PMO and over 12 months with just one reset. I became a lot more honest with myself and with you. I developed a real distaste for P in its pure form and I still haven’t visited a P site in over a year (and do not intend to). But somewhere along the way I became obsessive and religious about the whole thing. So I am going to switch off.

I won’t delete my account and I hope to return at some point when I feel I have something else to contribute.

I wish you all success in the process!

  16. You will be missed Timber, I appreciate your input in this group over the last many months. Good luck in your path, you are always welcome back, of course.

Hello gents, i hope you are all doing fine!
I am doing better with avoiding pm lately but i noticed something different this time.Although i am avoiding pm with more success i feel kinda ... i don't know if empty is ther right word , it's like i don't want to go pm but at the same time i don't have the erge to do anything productive on my free time which lately is a lot.
It's like all the days are the same and i find myself spending a lot of time on social media, watching series or playing videogames for hours like hypnotized but still the feeling is not the same as it used to be (i am a gamer since 90's and i used to enjoy them a lot).At least i keep following my daily workout routine.
During lockdown i abused weed and i am clean for 2 weeks now so maybe that played some part and i need some time to get used without it.Or even worst those are some signs of derpession or the after effects of lockdown or the financial problems i am facing lately. In two days we are going almost full back to normal here so i hope if i go out and meet some people my mood will change.Has anyone noticed something similar?

You had a lot of success here man, maybe some times this site counter works and we need some time to clear our mind and notice where are we and where we are going. You know better when it's time to step aside or stop for urself.
You are going out a better man than you came in , that's for sure.I wish the best luck for you , take care and keep fighting!

Hey man. I see what you're saying. I'm stuck here where I am, in full quarantine. My state (in USA) is still completely shut down (as it should be). The last time I was outside my neighborhood was March 12th. I am either at home, walking around the neighborhood, walking on the beach (which is part of the neighborhood) and occasionally at my sister's house. It's easy to get lazy and just do the things you mentioned, such as shows, video games and social media all the time. But in the end, it only makes things harder.

Once, back when I was in college, I was in a building that had a security guard. I got to talking to this guy, and he told me there were jobs available in the company and that he could help get me a job. He kept saying how easy it was. Man, all you have to do is sit here in this chair and check the monitors. Just walk around the floors, make sure everything's quiet. It didn't really appeal to me, despite how easy he was saying it was. Later I realized that that job is actually HARD. It's a hard job. It's hard to be bored all day. It will make you tired. I think of security guards who stand in the corner of art museums making sure people don't get too close to the paintings. I always notice the looks on their faces. They are bored out of their minds. It is not easy at all to do a job like that and I'm sure they are exhausted when they get home.

Anyway, my point is that these are the kinds of activities you're choosing for yourself at home. You're choosing things that seem easy, but in reality they are hard because they are so disengaging that they just end up just draining your life energy.

I know that everyone is getting sick of me mentioning this, but it has helped me so much and I think that you in particular, Rebooter, after what you've said, can really benefit from it. It is the Yale happiness course. It is entirely free and set up in a very easy to follow format for the general public. One of the things they talk about is choosing activities that get you into a flow state, or at least a state that it close to it. A flow state happens when you engage in activities that are challenging, but yet you have the skills to achieve what you're trying to do. They also give hard data based on research that shows that people are happier at their jobs when things get challenging than when they are at home 'relaxing'.

    Here it is again: https://forum.nofap.com/index.php?t...untability-group.203950/page-203#post-2499751

I am at 37 days no porn right now, and 34 days no PMO. I never thought this would have been possible for me in a lockdown situation like this. In the past, external factors always had a huge impact on the success of my streaks. But now there is nothing. There is nothing external. That is the perfect setup for PMO City.

What is really doing it for me now is setting up my days in a structured way, where the activities I do are engaging and meaningful. The first thing I do with my coffee is get on these boards and connect on NoFap. Then one by one I go to other things until the day is over. And the days are flying by now. Most of the things I do stem from the Yale course, but not everything. I watch TV series every day, but I use it as a break from other things and only spend 1-2 hours on it. I make one or two check-ins on Facebook throughout the day, and keep it short. I am only checking my email once, and I have a rule to do it between 11am-1pm. As for video games, I use the Lumosity app on my phone. These are 'brain games' that are meant to challenge your thinking patterns and not only get you into a flow state, but actually build up brain power in the process. I use the free version and it suits me perfectly.

You are sticking to your workout routine, so that is an excellent start. But really you need to start structuring your days better. Good luck my man, and let us know how it goes.
