Do urges lessen overtime? I used to smoke cigarettes but then quit 18 months ago. I still have urges but it is very easy now to ignore them and I do not miss smoking at all. I have to mention that I am not going out or socializing these days so once I will start meeting people for drinks then I will see how much control I have....but reading some posts right now and saw people who are off PMO, still have strong urges after 4 months...what do you think about it?

It's a tricky addiction because a desire to have sex is healthy and normal. Porn and sex aren't a closely related as we think they are but it creates more urges than other addictions I think.

Search the forum for PAWS (post addiction withdrawal syndrome) and you will find better and more specific info.

Thanks so much! I really appreciate the shout-out and will continue to do my absolute best. I couldn't have done it without the all the support from you guys and for that I'm forever grateful.

All the best to everyone. We can defeat this!

Sure I was tired and work felt hard, but I could have done a light workout, some house work, small bursts of actual work with breaks in between. But no, brain chose relapse again. Just a quick peek of course, that's not a relapse! Just a few unrelated searches of course, just 5 minutes of course, just oh these 15 minutes aren't a relapse yet i can still walk back from the ledge, just....oh crap. And now I have nothing.

Back to just focusing on each day. I don't care what day it is. Day by day. 1 day, the one ahead of me. I just have one goal, and that is use my time well and not fall in the PMO trap. That's it, that's all I need to remind myself of. You have 1 goal. And there are many ways to reach that goal but there are no shortcuts. No perfect system. Put in the work and be mindful when those inevitable difficult moments arise. There are never any excuses to PMO. Not being tired, not being stressed, not having anxiety, not being unhappy.

With that being said I am signing off and will go back to practicing what I preach.

  10. Hi all. Thanks for the welcome.

Its great to be part of a group facing the same struggles. Part of my reason for joining, is the hope I can use my competitive streak to keep me focused on staying free of PMO. So I will be watching that leaderboard carefully!

I feel like I have made a good start, but like everyone I have good days and bad days, and I'm more vulnerable on bad days. So I will try to check in here as often as I can.

    Good luck to everyone!

Thank you for that, I just download it and using the trial. It seems to work pretty well.

Today I went for a long walk in the morning and stayed away from the computer all day till now. As usual after a relapse, the urges were strong and I was getting pinged by them through out the day. If I had stayed home, for sure I would have went right back.

  15. Had a relapse yesterday. Resetting my counter and changed it to no P&M instead of PMO as long as I'm married.

    What I have done wrong?
Well, there are actions/habits besides the P addiction itself, that lead you to the slippery slope. For me, these actions are consuming alcohol and lack of sleep. Although I get drunk like 4-5 times a year, the last two days were just the mix of drinking a lot and not getting enough sleep.

What I will do differently this time?
I think not drinking at all for at least the first 90 days is a great idea.

    Stay Strong

Sleep and alcohol trip me up all the time too. Sleep is somewhat outside of my control due the kids but I can still make sure I go to bed early and reduce my screen time the last hour before bed, and I agree that limiting alcohol is a good idea!

    Good morning all, checking in!

6 days in and weathering first week storms quite well so far, praying another 6 days goes same way.

    Cheers

  20. The urges come in waves, sometime they hit you like a truck but the intensity lessens over time. Those long stretches of days without urges is what makes nofap so powerful. It gives you your self-confidence back. It is something you get better at the more you practice it. I used to think it was impossible to go 30 days without M, since then I have done it several times. There are people on this site who have gone months or years without it.
