48 hour Camgirl addiction story

Hey guys, I'm new here but I was motivated to join after what happened.

Yesterday was my 21st birthday and I decided it would be funny if I joined a cam girl website (Chaturbate), considering I've had a relatively healthy porn habit and could handle it, (I know a lot of you don't agree that there is such a thing but still). I've done drugs, weed, alcohol, gambling, video games, all without addiction, so you can see why I thought that addiction couldn't get to me.

Anyways, I started going around and realized how much I liked it. I have a girlfriend IRL and am not one of those "never-had-a-real-relationship" people who stereotypically get addicted to this stuff but fuck I was wrong. I get off on power and camgirl sites are basically power factories for anyone with ten bucks to spend. That, in addition to the girls constantly egging you on and reacting to your every message.

In short, within 48 hours I spent $500 and still going. I have an extremely stressful week ahead with a lot of work to do so having a sudden addiction that trumped me wanting to talk to my girlfriend, do work, go outside, (pretty much anything other than browsing for cam girls to do what I wanted) was the last thing I needed. It got to the point this morning that I realized I have some random girl's premium snapchat in my phone and was paying for what are essentially virtual strippers behind my gf's back. I have a decent paying job so the $500 wasn't the worst thing, but I usually budget my money so that made me very frustrated.

This was definitely an addiction because it was affecting my personal life and all today I couldn't get the thought of checking in on some cheap cam girls to get them to dance and take their clothes off. Like I said, I have never, never had this happen before and it's only because of the self-awareness beaten into me by my life experience that I realized that this was damaging and I needed to stop while I still could. Thus ended my expensive 48-hour addiction.

If there was any moral to this long post is that if you have to beware of porn addiction, but Camsites specifically. The mixture of power, personal connection, deceitful token prices, and the rush of getting a girl to do what you want is fucking terrifying and instantly had me hooked. I used to be someone who made fun of guys for "simping" but after seeing the other side, I realize just how out of your control you can get. I don't blame the girls, they're just trying to make some money, but the system itself along with the way they try to hook "whales" is toxic as fuck and could easily fuck up someone's life. There are so many girls out there that take advantage of your hormones and need for validation and exploit you for everything you have. All you need to do is go on subreddits for cam girls and you see how they complain about how guys get attached and brag about how much they can squeeze out of some stranger.

So if you think you can handle cam girls, or the usual suspects of paid pornography, just remember that there is someone who does not have an addictive personality, and has a GF, and a job, and is responsible that got put in his fucking place real fucking quick. Don't have hubris, you too can get addicted and lose a lot of money before you know it. I still think you can have a healthy relationship with pornography, but you'd better stay self-aware and know that you are no more resistant than the other guy.

If you guys want to share your two cents feel free, I want to know how common of a problem this is.

Thanks for the support, glad to know there's guys out there that can relate. I appreciate the reply. I think my problem was I thought I was better than other people but I can see now that everyone is susceptible and should be aware.
