hey guys. i'm 27. i had been using porn for most of my life.

i started nofap 5 months ago.

when i started this journey. i figured it would take 3 months. Maybe 4 or 5 if i was unlucky.

but here i am at 5 months abstinence from PMO. and i'm not NEARLY as far along as i thought i'd be.

don't get me wrong there have been some amazing benefits!! it's just kind of ironic that all the benefits have been in every area of my life except my sex life.

that's why i got into this! is to improve my sex life. and here i am at 5 months and my sex life has never been so sad. i've had a ton of benefits in other areas. my hobbies and making new plutonic friends. and working harder at work.

but good god. what does any of that mean if i'm not having success with my sex life? every girl i talk to is a friend!!

i'm reaaaally losing faith :( im at the point where this doesn't seem worth it! before nofap i got lots of woman. no problems with ED. my problem was with low self esteem.

anyway. i'm just hoping to hear some encouragement.

i'm doing this amazing task for the hopes of helping my sex life and it's sadder than ever...

i'm talking to woman who i'm barely attracted to. just to feel like i got something going on.

if i stick with this. will i eventually get a girl who really turns me on?

    losing hope!!

Hey, I'm at 5 months too, and I'm also disappointed with my progress in terms of my sex life so far, although like you said other than sex I'm definately getting a lot of benefits. What exactly did you want from NoFap? I'm here to cure my PIED but so far I dont think that's been fixed and I've had zero libido for over two months now, a very long flatline. I dont know why it's taking so long but I know I have to ride it out and leave P and M behind for good, I'm here for the long haul, whatever it takes. I'm not going back to being limp, even if it means flatlining a while longer. Hopefully you'll be able to stick it out too. There's a light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck!

Well for me it was rather strange I got them a lot during my first three months on this streak (hardmode) but then they started going away and I've had neither for about a month now. So similar to your case I think.

Depending on the severity of your addiction recovery times can take upwards of 6-12 months.
    Check out my post
    https://www.NoFap.com/forum/index.p...n-self-questionnaire-how-addicted-am-i.90845/

    To check where your at.

Libido, unfortunately is the last to return during your reboot. However during your 5 months you've reported benefits, which means your brain has undergone significant repair. Keep it up, and you'll continue to see changes

it's nice to hear a similar story!! i wonder if i'll ever be back to normal ya know? or is this was it's like to be cured? i don't think so. i'm in flatline.

anyway. what do i want from nofap? i want to get a loving girlfriend who i'm really attracted to. that's only happened once in my life before and i want again.

so in other words. i want it to fix my self esteem issues. and just to rewire my brain from porn. lots of fetishes i've accumulated.

I could be off track with this but just thought i would put it out there.
It makes sense to me that once you dial down your previous method of expressing sexual energy, you have to learn a new method. You've been in a toxic relationship with pixel women for most of your life, so why would you expect to be able to walk away from that into a healthy sexual state a few months later? You might have to open your mind to the idea that you don't know much about who you really are sexually.

Speaking for myself, sex with my wife changed in completely unpredictable ways as my addiction wore off. When i say unpredictable, i mean it felt like new areas of my brain were finally becoming active. Sex almost became unfamiliar. I was lucky enough to have pretty damn good sex even while addicted, so to have it change so much was really surprising.

I suggest thinking about sex/attraction in a really left field way and see what happens. Listen to the smaller voices in your head when you are interacting with women. Be ready to go into unfamiliar territory. You might find a key to unlocking your current state.

Yeah I wonder myself if I'll ever be cured too but like you said it's the flatline. I'm sure we'll be cured eventually. I'm already starting to feel slightly better but we'll see how long that lasts. Recovery isn't linear either so you have to keep that on mind. Yeah I hope to rewire my brain back to normal too.
