MantumRouge
New Fapstronaut
Hey bros! I've been lurking here forever and this morning I just got the sudden urge to make my first ever post here. I'll try to keep it brief. Here's a synopsis of who I am:
I'm only 21 years old but very early on (age 15 or 16) I realized that fapping was terrible for me. It just made me feel like shit. And I was fapping sometimes 4 or 5 times a day, it got really bad for me. That combined with being a teenager and the storm of new hormones and whatever was just the worst. I thought I was mentally ill. I was so insecure about everything and I put on this whole fake persona in public and whatever 'relationship' I got involved in quickly ended due to me being such a freak. And yes, I was a freak to be honest and have done a lot of things I'm not proud of.
But that's okay. It's good to look back and cringe because that means you've changed and wouldn't do those things again, you've learned something. Also, I was never addicted to porn (just my thoughts) so I can't speak on that. And I still have a lot to learn and I'm still on this journey with all of you but I've been through a lot and here's some things I wish I knew earlier...
The 90 day reboot
This might be true for some people, I don't know. But the truth is the brain works in strange ways. I certainly wasn't cured in 90 days, I was deep into a flatline at that point. But I think it's a good thing to take it day-by-day. Have some sort of calendar or something to check off the days as you go. But don't expect to be completely cured after 90 days. If you ask me, that's just setting you up to relapse once you realize you still feel like shit. "is it even worth it?" yes. But for this to work you need to be patient. Even if it took 10 years, it's still better knowing there's a light at the end of the tunnel -- somewhere, as opposed to living the rest of your life feeling like shit! Remember that this is a serious addiction, akin to cocaine or heroin. Yes, it is really that bad. So treat it as such. You think a heroin addict is completely fine and dandy after 90 days clean?
Controlling urges and Edging
I'm a very black and white person. In my opinion, you have to go cold turkey. That means no touching in any capacity. And yes, that includes rubbing against your bed or whatever other weird little loophole your brain is gonna find to get its fix. You need to reinforce that stigma in your brain. You need to remember how shitty you felt last time you relapsed. And you need to realize that urges might be bad right now, but they come and go quickly, and if you keep it up they WILL disappear altogether. Also, and I can't emphasize this enough: WORK OUT. If you're freaking out and getting particularly bad urges, how about doing as many pushups in a row as you can? Take that energy somewhere else. Go on a walk, whatever you need to do. You've got to train yourself like a dog basically.
Also, you might try to convince yourself that edging is okay, because you don't O. But you will ALWAYS O eventually. I was edging for hours at a time at one point. You will eventually feel like shit again, and you'll feel like an even bigger loser for wasting so much time. So just don't touch it at all, no excuses. Do a pushup.
Flatline
You will feel like absolute dogshit. No libido, no good feeling, just shit. You just have to tough it out. Nothing is ever gonna help you, you just need to keep going. Once you're on the other side, it is so worth it. I had a flatline, it must have lasted three months. Sometimes they last even longer. Once you get out it really is like a high you've never felt before. It helps a lot to write your thoughts down somewhere, especially when nobody around us knows what we're going through. I had a journal, it helped me get it out my head. Again, WORK OUT. And get outside in the sun. It's the best way to start feeling better. And just know that if you relapse, you are going to feel even more like shit, and you're taking 10 steps back. You should be scared, never do it.
You'll know you're coming out when the morning woods return. And they'll be back with a fury; you'll have one literally all morning.
Semen Retention and Wet Dreams
Now, if you make it far enough you'll probably start getting wet dreams. And these things are the worst. They completely sap your energy, and you feel hopeless because it's literally out of your control. I mean, you do all this hard work abstaining and not touching yourself at all, only to relapse in your sleep?! But listen, all of these other guys on here are claiming there's ways to stop them. Don't get sucked into their shit like I did, you'll be setting yourself up for disappointment. The truth is there's really no way to stop them, don't get scammed. But they DO stop on their own eventually. You just have to wait them out. It's like your brain's last defense and attempt to get you to relapse again. Also something you'll notice is that they start to affect you less and less over time. I was having 5+ in a week. One time I think I had 3 in one night. Nothing you can do, just remember the bright light at the end of the tunnel. Eventually you'll have one and think nothing of it. Just meh, you'll be a little slower that morning is all. Do a pushup.
Yeah, I think that SR holds some water. Personally when I have sex too often (with O) I feel a bit drained too. Personally I try to keep sex down at once a week. It's better that way anyway, you'll feel more vigorous and energetic. Don't forget you can get addicted to sex, too. Moderate yourself! It's not all about semen though. 90% of this is about fixing your tweaked-out brain first. It's better to not even worry about it. That's just what I think.
Final Thoughts
3 big tips:
- WORK OUT and make a routine of it.
- Journal your thoughts somewhere. This just helps with all sorts of stuff. Get it out of your head.
- Keep some sort of calendar and mark off the days, and you need to be strict about it.
and the biggest tip of all...
NEVER, EVER, EVER GIVE UP!
