    53) change your posture

mind and body are connected its hard to immediately change first but its easy to change second, when you feel the way you dont want to feel, look for you body and change your posture. just remember its not needed and maybe not healthy to be always confident or happy.

    54) Pray

for me, no porn made me more willing to pray.
i dont feel alone or anxious after praying, gives my life meaning and purpose and when there is meaning in life, its far easier to do things as nietzsche said :

    :emoji_star2::emoji_star2:55) read Happiness Trap :emoji_star2::emoji_star2:

i can't stress this enough, i've already just read 13% of the book and every sentence is an eye opening sentence.

Edit: (finished the book and it was amazing)

here is part of book's forward by Steven C. Hayes, PhD Originator of ACT University of Nevada:

book has an illustrated version too but from amazon reviews it seems that not illustrated version is more detailed.

    56) live by your values

In his book happiness trap russ haris tells readers about having goals but instead of just waiting for those goals to happen and working toward them while frustrated, ask yourself why you want to reach that goal, you may need to repeat asking it couple of times to reach core values and then work toward them.
For example if you want to be rich to help others or gain fame in order to be able to act like yourself without trying to impress others then help people today, and act a little bit more like yourself today, its not like helping others while you’re rich but its still better than waiting frustratingly.

I’ve stopped porn for over 6 months but not masturbation and i wanted to m i want to be m free too but thought to myself that its too long way and i would fail more likely than not , but then asked myself why do i want to be m free ? Answer was because i want to be free, then i can be free now. Regardless of what happens an hour later or tomorrow or next month i can be free now and live by my values.

(You may not be able to get enough without reading first parts of the book first, i as a book junkie who has read many books. Cant recommend this book enough and it worths its weight in gold)

    57) Change your approach to boredom.

One of the most frequently happening reasons for relapsing is boredom, but is boredom all bad ? why we do get so easily bored ?
from what i can see what makes boredom troublesome is not boredom it self, like all so called negative feelings what makes them troublesome or much more trouble making is running away from them, is being ashamed of having them or being afraid of actually feeling them because of false beliefs society injected in us. (after reading happiness trap and learning from it i am becoming better with dealing with negative emotions but boredom worths its own post).

yesterday after reading this article : The Most Important Skill Nobody Taught You. i put aside my digital devices and tried to sit by myself for a while and as article suggested when boredom arised, i let my self to get carried away by it. i didn't tried to change it or run away from it. and guess where it led me ? present Moment. this only happened once for me and i'm not quite sure wether you are going to have experience as me or not but maybe and just maybe boredom is not an internal signal for more novelty. but it is a signal that tells us every information processed now time to get out of mind and back present moment when embraced.

btw wether my hypothesis is right or wrong embracing presence feelings and thoughts while acting based on values (not random thoughts and feelings if they are useless) is a way to have free and full life.

    58) maybe its time for leaving label of addict and former addict

constantly labeling yourself as addict and former addict, may serve you no good after a while in your recovery if ever.

for some maybe and just maybe it be helpful to identify themselves as addicts and later on former addict. but from my own experience when labeling myself as a former addict it was stuck as part of my identity that i could do nothing about and i was just waiting for magical changes.

if its been a while since your recovery started and things are getting stable (not good yet but relatively stable), it might be time to stop coming back to nofap and similar websites or reading success stories everyday and start learning how to leave as yourself with your new condition.

(this is why there is a 15 days gap between tip#55 and #56)

PS: dont even rush in labeling yourself an addict, actually i wasn't an everyday 3 hour user too. but dont fool your self about your usage being unhealthy if you see its downsides and cant stop using, as its the case with fast foods and tv show binges.

    59) dont be afraid of novelty, shock and excitement.

if you have read or watched about porn effects on brain, you probably have heard about effects of novelty, shock and excitement on dopamine abuse. this can simply make some readers to fear excitement or feeling good or chasing novelty.
but thats a mistake, in simplified version, the porn brain has less receptors for dopamine so tons of dopamine still feels meh, but after recovery and after gaining some receptors back you can feel so much more excited with healthy activities like going out with you friends without consequences that porn has(these feelings are not zombies trying to keep you in your old behavior) . actually i encourage you to go after these healthy activities but dont forget about tip #48

    60) Train your brain with brain training apps.
when you quit porn, its better to stimulate and challenge your brain muscle in healthy ways both because you would need them in your everyday life for doing things better and to face with urges and depression and anxiety during recovery.
there are may good apps designed to challenge you more lumosity, elevate and peak do have great user interface and polished games but are expensive if you want to buy them and free if you want to stick to their 3 trainings per day(not sure about peak) and there are cheaper options like Left vs Right (free with ads and 10$ to buy) or mind games pro for android (2.99 one time pay), there are tons of options just search for yourself. oh and dont forget BrainHQ from positscience which got mentioned in the brain that changes itself.
challenging your brain can be good in most stages but also is a good option for when you want to just recover faster or later when you are bored by slow nature of change.

    61) Have some off-screen time.

internet with its novelty can be a big distraction from realities in life, im not talking just about porn but also google can stay in way of achieving your goals.
when you can easily search for everything in your mind this chain in mind can go on an on without doing much useful.

its far more interesting or shocking to read and watch about wars, celebrities or normal people who did big things than to think about your own life and doing things necessary.

just set a time and turn all devices off (so you wont save articles or videos for your offline time) afterward until the next day and let the brain do the rest.

    62) Each problem needs a different solution.

Porn Looks like a one size fits all solution for all problems, well it actually isn't a solution at all.
it looks so because it makes us forget problems for a short period of time no matter what problem is.

after quitting porn you may consciously or unconsciously get affected by it and look for immediate and one-size-fits all solutions.

you may turn to wanting to make lots of money , over eating, getting paralyzed and not knowing what to do.

despite porn that in it having sex and orgasm is the ultimate goal, in real life working only on one goal means imbalance and not being satisfied.

    64) Look for other ways you try to manage you life with being HIGH.

its not bad to have excited times and actually its pretty cool but what im talking about is not about being excited its about seeking high to manage your emotions, this can be having thoughts of random girls or women in your brain and also chasing success and visualizing what future can be and what can happen every minute. are they bad ? in my opinion yes if they interfere with your life.
making a random thought in your brain and visualizing a random girl or success or whatever you may do to get high frequently can interfere with your actions. you may not want to go for one girl because there are dozens in your brain making you think that you should have them all. or visualizing very big and unrealistic successes can make you small real success dull and paralyze you from achieving them.

and all of these in actions can make you frustrated and unsatisfied.

    65) Get out of your HEAD.

we are not out thoughts but many times it may feel so, and we can not just change our thoughts or stop them forever but boy we try to do so again and again. we need to remind our selves that we are not our thoughts and we can live and decide without pursuing thoughts. mindfulness can help you to do so but if you need some techniques that are easier and probably you would see faster result maybe immediate you can read Happiness Trap
