My friends are pretty much my only motivation to do anything really... When i go to hang out with my friends, i always shower, wear some nice clothes and feel great about myself and have a good time. But when it's the holidays and i spend lots of time alone I have no motivation anymore, i don't want to shower, i don't want to dress up nicely, i don't want to do anything, I'm a total mess and i get bored and relapse... What do i do when i have to spend lots of time away from the only thing that motivates me to do anything and stay away from PMO? This is my problem, any ideas?

Hey man, I would definitely work out a plan to fill up your free time. Take the time to grow and become a better person, work out, maybe get a job. stay busy. I think that being clean or decently dressed is very important for everyday life and if you are not finding that motivation, go out and be around people, make an effort to be with friends stay in contact. In my case if I stay in the same clothes from the beginning of the day to the end of it I feel very bad with myself. Useless. But if I have a lot of free time I just try and at least work out, clean my house, do some photography or other things I like, talk to someone at the gym, cook myself something, be with a friend. Just don't stay at home, don't try to entertain yourself with technology.

This podcast helped me a lot on this same subject: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast...s-for-summer/id872329779?i=1000369844952&mt=2

Hope this helps, stay busy and good luck!

Wow man I can totally relate to you. Loved reading every bit of your story. Your words literally touched my heart.

I really want someone in my life that I can have a real romantic relationship with - emotions, deep conversations, real love and things like that.

I think this is one of my biggest motivator in my recovery. I felt great after reading your story, inspires me that I can also achieve it!

As a sidenote - you should really write a book, you're an amazing writer.

Thank you very much! I’m glad you liked it!

Thank you it means a lot to me that my story helps someone else go through this!
And yes, having a relationship is a beautiful experience, even with it’s ups and downs it’s totally worth it and a beautiful goal to fight for.
Thanks for the compliment! I’m far from writing a book though haha

Thanks! English is my second language so I write with only the basics! I’m actually from argentina! MrGeonov is an amazing russian user here and we both shared lots of recoveries and reboots together. We are still fighting! Good luck on your reboot man!

Determination is an amazing thing to have in this struggle, keep fighting for what you love and for the person you want to become! Whish you the best!!

  12. This is extremely inspiring man.

I hope and pray that I too will see this day soon.

Just one question: how did you convince yourself that all this is worth doing?

Recently, I broke a long streak, and I kinda fell into a hole. Everything started looking pointless. I have no girls in my life, very few friends, and I'm not even a very successful person.

The moment my streak broke, my mind tried to convince me that all this is pointless, and that fapping is the only thing that can make me happy.

I want to know how exactly you dealt with feelings like that.

    Hey man, good question.
I would take some time to figure out who you want to be. Maybe separate your life into different categories. Such as love, business, family, physique, studies etc etc.
Make a list of each one with objectives you would like to achieve. Be realistic but most importantly understand that just like a reboot you have to take your time to achieve it. Long term goals are what you’re looking for. Don’t stress if you’re not making a lot of progress, think about it like this : 1% every every day.

As days go by, and the reboot progresses your head will start clearing up and you’ll be able to see your life with more clarity. And mainly you’ll also be more positive and optimistic about the whole thing.

The main reason I used porn, was to cover up difficult situations and problems that I had in my life. Porn addiction is just a way to deal with a troublesome life. If you keep using porn you’ll still be unhappy because you’re not dealing with the root cause.

If you’re wondering “should I fix my life first and stop using porn later??” The answer is no. Definitely stop using porn and then fix your life.

Try to find good interests, things you like to do, and do them. Find people you like to hang out with, people you admire and try to spend time with them. Having healthy relationships and an active social life is a great goal. Don’t expect to achieve this overnight but make an effort to get there.

This is just some advice. This life is the only one you’ve got man and its up to you to turn it into something worth living. Get into action and don’t look back too much. If you feel your life has been uneventful then leaving porn will be the best thing that ever happened to you.

My previous post, about 60 days which I linked in this journal has some more advice.
The main thing to remember is that porn is just a way to deal with your problems. The trick now is to see that if you don’t leave porn you wont be able to strighten your life back.

Good luck man! Wish you the best!!

One more thing about healthy relationships: spending time with interesting and fun people is vitally important for the reboot. They provide a tangible objective of what a life without porn looks like and a clear objective to aim at.
One of the easiest places to find someone like this is a gym or maybe classes about something you like.
If you don’t find people you like instantly, just keep looking. Sharing your life with someone else is what makes it worthwhile.
