A little scared, but feels like I'm headed in the right direction

    Hi you guys,

I am new here, so I took the automated system's recommendation and thought I'd introduce myself.

I am 26 years old, and have been watching porn since I hit puberty.

There is so much I want to say, but I fear it will bore some of you, so I'll keep it short.

    To go in reverse chronological order;
    • Over the past few days I really started to get the feeling that there is something messing with my head.

    • over the past few months my mind is really foggy, interfering with my work and other important activities I am involved in.

    • I am truly happy, getting into this noFap community, since in my own life I feel VERY isolated from the people around me (even though I am an active member of several organizations).
I am really hoping to find a sense of connection here, with like minded people - or at least, people who have had similar experiences.

    • I am a professional dancer. Dancing in a couple with my female partner makes it very difficult for me to concentrate on the technical side of what we do, and I am really distracted all the time by thoughts of relationships, connection and sex. This has gone so far as to really take over me, obsessively. I feel that I have been completely consumed by thoughts of a relationships, and by fantasies of pleasure (similar to what I've been exposed to in porn). So much so, that I have no capacity in my mind for anything else.

    • I have yet to derail to extreme genres of porn, but I fear that I might.
On the other hand, I can easily fap 2-3 times per session, taking up valuable time from my life, and mental capacity and focus.

    • I have had few real sexual partners, one of which was an escort.
I have not had a good connection to another person in a very long time (3-4 years), and I feel very alone.

Thanks for the attention of anyone who took the time to read this - I am tried this before, but didn't really take it seriously. Now, having found this abundant place full of content and knowledge, I am hoping to free myself from the shackles of all of the symptoms that I read about in the last hour, having realized their huge impact on my quality of life.

    Thank you,

We do get the idea. We have lived it with you.

So what kind of dancer? Ballroom?

I know the feeling of this eating your time and energy. That's a big reason I am here too.

    The isolation is understandable!

From what I've been reading this is a common feeling amongst a lot of people here.

I literally just joined and I find it super relieving to post my experiences on these forums or even just read others experiences.

I personally feel that lack of communication your talking about.

I think you found the right place to take the right steps forward to remove the shackles.

Welcome to NoFap where you are amongst friends who are here to encourage you and sometimes challenge you but not judge you.

The enemy is here to steal, kill and destroy. What are your current strategies for combating the enemy called PMO?

    Hey guys!

Wow! Thanks for all the replies!!

    • Yeah, ballroom dancing!

    • I am not really sure about the strategies. Any suggestions?
I removed my browser history, for starters, so that I don't get any bad suggestions that might lead me astray.

    What does PMO stand for?

Welcome man, I have been reading about addiction, attempting, relapsing, repeating, for a few years now. I just started participating in this forum even though I first joined 2 years ago and it has helped with inspiration and motivation. I also have stopped drinking for the duration of my first 90 days of nofap and I think that has helped a lot so far as I am at 28 days and never made it this far before.

Focus less on "trying to not watch porn", less on "not masterbating", and more on what you want to do with your free time. How do you want to improve your life with more time available, what do you want to learn about yourself, what new things do you want to do, what things in your life do you want to do better. It makes it easier to think in that capacity because then when temptation strikes you can tell your mind "NO! I have things I need to accomplish!"

    Best of luck!
