I just want to mention an important related issue that is rarely talked about in our culture - Emotional porn/erotica/romance novels for women. These books create ridiculously unrealistic fantasies for women in terms of romance and what they think marriage will be like. Just like porn screws with men's expectations, emotional porn screws with women's minds and has done a lot of damage to marriages and relationships. So to the OP or other women on here - I hope you will encourage your girlfriends and other women with this issue as well (if they're into it). It's not innocent, and it matters more than people think.

I could never fantasize about people I actually know. I seem to have kept a distance between the real world and my the lustful desires. I think the reason for this is I haven't gotten super deep into porn and I haven't viewed it for very long.

This being said, I still want to give up PMO completely. Even though I haven't experienced some of the negative effects, I figure it's easier to quit now than later.
