A powerful yet overlooked and hidden motivation to quit porn

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by [email protected], Jun 30, 2020.

  1. Whether you are lacking a strong drive to quit porn or are a seeker of truth these facts (and actions) will greatly help your NoFap journey and immensely fulfill you.

Pornhub, the world's largest and most popular porn site, has been repeatedly caught enabling, hosting, and profiting from videos of child rape, sex trafficking, and other forms of non-consensual content exploiting women and minors (https://traffickinghubpetition.com/, Laila Mickelwait). (This event is not exclusive to Pornhub)

In the last few months, there have been several shocking cases of sex trafficking and child rape films that were hosted on Pornhub. A 15-year-old girl who had been missing for a year was finally found after her mother was tipped off that her daughter was being featured in videos on the site — 58 such videos of her rape and sexual abuse were discovered on Pornhub.

This is not a one-time event—recently the Internet Watch Foundation stated that it alone had confirmed 118 cases of child rape, sexual abuse and trafficking on Pornhub—half of the videos were Category A level abuse which is the worst kinds of abuse.
Pornhub has been unyielding in its iniquity, as many cases of exploitation are still on the site, despite much effort from victims and organizations.

    Dispelling rationalizations against this reason:
    1. "Fine. I'll just watch videos not involving rape or teens."
Distinguishing between consensual sex and rape is almost impossible. It is known that victims (including men) are often tricked, drugged and forced to put on a facade of joy.

    2. "Then I'll go to other sources not holding rape content, or sources that are verified as safe."
As stated previously, it is hard to detect non-consensual sex. Even those you "trust" may have dark things going on behind the camera.

    3. "If I watch such content in a non-monetized way, I'm not contributing to their suffering."
Pleasuring yourself through someone else's terrible toil is pure evil. And imagine seeing that a video of you being raped has thousands of views. What kind of torture would that cause?

These are among the many rationalizations one might use to continue to absorb such wicked content. Even rationalizations not listed here are often easily dispelled.

What you can do to help
    - Sign the TraffickingHub petition (<—linked in these words) and this moving video
    - Share the petition online, with friends, etc. and encourage them to share
    - Donate a few bucks
    - Quit porn so you can be an advocate on this issue without being a hypocrite
These are all quick and easy things to do, and you'll be surprised by how much influence you can have if you go the extra inch in spreading awareness. I'd encourage you all to step a bit outside your comfort zone by taking these actions (and of course, you can go further and be a super hero). Helping a suffering sister is extremely fulfilling (pat yourself on the back when you help).

Excuse the clickbaity title. I hope you gained from this strong reason to do NoFap and I hope you feel fulfilled helping out a friend in great need.

Best wishes on your NoFap journey and greater life.

That was one fact that felt like a gut punch. I HATE when that type of oppression exists.

    Thanks for the sobering post.

I’ll add that videos of men drugged and abused are also included.

It makes me queasy thinking I helped in a tiny way to keep all that garbage going. You are correct, it is more motivation to stay away from porn and improve my life.

    A great reminder.

One of the more insidious qualities of porn addiction is the belief there is no harm done, except for some personal problems that one can ignore if one so chooses. And that the only reason one might quit watching porn is to help solve those personal problems. However, porn is a great evil, and by watching it one is participating mind, body, and soul in the deprivation of thousands, if not millions of people. Sex trafficking, rape, and the sexual exploitation of children is the inevitable end of perceiving people as objects.

It hurts that I have been involved in something like this and I am grateful that today I abstained by God's grace.

It's okay relapses will exist if you are fighting with addictions as it a gradual process and not a race. Fall 7 times stand up 8. Im going to make a longer streak now. Life is good!

All porn is so rapey, in pornhub you can replace raped with forced and you have a free way to upload whatever you want

  19. Np Akro!

Good point, I'll edit the post to include that.

Ikr. ;) It's quite scary to think that there is a very high chance I viewed an exploited person.
