Trust me dude, I'm in this same place right now.

You can't let it overtake you. You can't let it win.

You have to build a strategy to beat your addiction. To make this strategy, analyze the reasons for your failures each time they occur and come up with solutions to them. There are many ways a relapse manifests...Eliminate enough of them and you will win. I'm in this process right now. I know you can make it out if you do what's right for yourself, that's true for everyone.

Looking is right! Don't feel bad that you relapsed it happens to the best of us. Use this relapse as a learning experience and try your hardest not to do it again. Please don't give up, just get back on the nofap train and never look back!

I think if you keep working on it, and working really really hard you will feel good about it. I think the best advice I ever heard about accomplishing a long term goal is persistence through trials and adversity. I guarantee you can beat the urge if you work hard at it. Also its good to be negative every once in a while, if possible use how you feel right now as a launching point for your future trials. I've failed before and the desire to not fail again keeps me going..

I can understand your feeling, as I've had those moments where i want to give up.

First of all, try giving yourself some short term goals to aim for and it can be shorter timeframe for no pmo. Add more as you go along. That helped me.

Other goals - could be something else in life you like doing and look forward to. It could be trying to create a new life for yourself with the time and energy you may gain from being pmo free.

And don't be so tough on yourself.

    You can do it.

I agree with looking. You have to have a strategy to beat it. You can't just say you're going to quit because that is too vague of a goal. You must know exactly what you aim to do and visualizing that in your mind is a sure way of reaching your goal. As looking said, analyze what you did in the past that caused you to lose control and avoid whatever that was. It could be to avoid all triggers, to try to relax when you're stressed out, or you may need to try other methods like meditation or cold showers to calm you down when you feel like you're out of sync. Only then will you be able to conquer this addiction. Know exactly what you want and your destination will soon follow. Good luck.

    Self-pity is our worst enemy.
A more helpful attitude: "I believe if other guys can beat PMO addiction, I can do it too."
Start by learning what has worked for people in your similar situation.

set yourself a realistic goal - maybe 21 days.

then try at all cost to reach this goal.

dont give up. you have to be strong. good luck.

I have spent this entire year from January onwards trying to give up PMO. I have abstained for periods of time, and I have failed again and again. I've reset my counter so much and I have given myself a hard time about it and dwelled on how hopeless I am.... but what I tend to forget is that I started PMO in my very early teens, I am now 28.... actually this has been the BEST year, I have masturbated least this year than in the last 15 years of my life! Thats got be a success story !!

As long as you are trying to make that leap towards self improvement, you can never fail.

Educate yourself a bit more. The book "Willpower Instinct" has some good hints. It has a lot of research in it to back up their approaches.

I got to that same place, roadtorecover. For for some of us PMO is like OCD--it's a tic we can't shake with willpower. It may be something bigger than you can do on your own, like it was for me. I needed (and continue to need) counseling and a recovery group. I needed in-person help.

A lot of good stuff in there. However, I almost relapsed just thinking about the spreadsheet idea.

I almost fell into the trap of feeling good about making PROGRESS, which is dangerous.

"I have been doing pretty well .. maybe I deserve a treat !"

So I have to question the wisdom of recording how you are better this month than last month.

Although I do like the idea of focusing on your ultimate goal.

And not giving your limbic system even one tiny bit of fantasizing. THAT is really good training for your prefrontal cortex.

The limbic system is the old part of your brain. It is fast acting. It is where impulses come from, survival or otherwise.

    http://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/drugs-brains-behavior-science-addiction/drugs-brain

Now... with meditation and practice, you can learn to see these impulses coming. And stop you limbic system from taking over.
