Anybody else have addiction in the blood? My dad is an alcoholic, his dad was an alcoholic, my mom is addicted to pain killers and her dad was an alcoholic.

Fortunately, I have avoided the substance abuse but I believe a huge struggle with PMO is due to addiction running in the family.

Are there any other members out there who also have the addiction gene, so-to-speak. As you fight PMO, do you notice other addictions wanting to take it's place?

Yep. Dad was a functioning alcoholic, mom is addicted to antidepressants, uncle on moms side is an alcoholic, grandfathers were both functioning alcoholics, grandmother on moms side was a heavy smoker, have severe alcoholic cousins on both sides. I guess I always thought of porn as the least harmful addiction that I could have...boy was I wrong.

As far as other addictions substituting, not yet. I had a ritual of edging to porn for hours with a big ass dip (tobacco) in and high on weed. Im finding that I dont dip at all if im not pmoing and the weed is MUCH less frequent.

Antidepressants are not addictive. Perhaps you mean tranquilisers.

Wrong. You above all should know that ANYTHING can be addictive. A quick google search will give you the PHYSICAL withdrawal symptoms of antidepressants.

Edit: She is on a coctail of at least 5 psychoactive drugs at a time for depression. Some of them are tranquilizers. The point is she is addicted to psychoactive drugs.

I totally agree. Anything can be addictive. Maybe not always the substance itself but the effect we get from it.

Thank you for your reply! Feels good to know I am not alone.

The reason I brought this up is my father recently relapsed. He had about 90 days under his belt. Just reminds me how addiction never goes away and everyday is a battle.

That does not mean they are addictive. The body does not crave the active substance in antidepressants. Google it!

What do you think "withdrawal" means? Lol. ANYTHING that causes you to "feel better" in any way is causing a chemical response in your brain and can be addictive. So you ate telling me that porn and masturbation transmit addictive chemical substances through osmosis? Roll your eyes all you want buddy.

I can't stand that little purple rolleyes face. There needs to be another version that looks more frustrated and less happy.
